Dear Carol,

We were very sorry to hear the sad news about John. I know you will really miss him. Please accept our kindest condolences and our deepest sympathy. We were out of the country and just got home last night when we heard the bad news.
He was a cousin of mine and we had some very good times at our family outings over the years. His dad and my mother were siblings.

Eternal rest grant unto them. O Lord. And let perpetual light shine upon him.

We will have three (3) Masses said at our parish for John. Our prayers are with his family.

My Dear Carol,

Simply put, there are absolutely no words that can express the magnitude of my sorrow for you and your family.

John has been my friend since we first met many years ago, in 1975, when he was at King Dodge. We instantly got along and became great friends - going on a few close trips together, enjoying many mutual friends, and having more fun just being with each other than most people experience in a lifetime.

Never in a million years would anyone think that John could do this to himself --- and to you. Only God knows what his reasoning was. You and I and everyone else who loved John will never know everything. We can just speculate.

We also can prey that John is in a better place. We have to believe that.

I wish I had more words. I don't know what else to say except, certainly, you have my deepest condolences.

All the best to you always,

Mark Herwitz

I am so sorry about John, we were friends 40 years ago. What a fun guy, he could always make me laugh. I remember one funny story I would like to share. One night there was a ice storm and I got stuck at Red bird lanes and couldn't drive home I called John and he and a friend came to get me well my mom wouldn't let them go back out in the ice, so they had to stay all night, so I made him let me give him a facial, let me tell you he was so funny running around my house with a green face. What a good sport. And yes he was a good dancer. My prayers are with his family and children. A friend I'll always remember. Harriet Ojile

Our sympathy to your family. Purchased many of my vehicles from you thru the years. The first was a 1973 Dodge Dart Swinger. Enjoyed confusing your receptionist. She would ask me who is calling, my reply was John Van Hoogstraat and she would come back with I know who you want but who are you. Will pay our respects on Thursday. John Van Hoogstraat - Cousin
