Ross, John Franklin
Passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 29th, 2022 of natural causes, at his home in Richmond Heights. Mr. Ross is survived by his daughter Lucy Margaret Ross of Boulder, Colorado, and his two sisters Helen Ross and Lucy Natkiel. John is the son of Walter Ross and Lucianna Gladney Ross, deceased, both of St. Louis, as well as the grandson of Frank Y. Gladney, a prominent attorney and businessman in St. Louis.
John graduated from John Burroughs High School in Ladue in 1974 and from Amherst College in 1979 with a B.A. in English, which he put to great use later in his career as an author.
He was employed by E.F. Hutton for almost a decade as a broker and later left the financial industry to concentrate on being a full-time writer.
John was a world-class expert and instructor on shooting, firearms, and ammunition, having become globally renowned and highly respected in different areas of the industry. John was a man of many passions including skiing, piloting his Pitts Model 12 biplane, curating jokes, and - most ardently - writing: in 1995 John published his first and best-known novel "Unintended
Consequences."

I just learned of Mr. Ross' death, and though we never met, he was one of the authors I most deeply wanted to get the chance to speak with.
I, as well as uncounted others, have been enlightened, educated, and moved by his work.
His lessons and wisdom live on. I introduce his book to everyone I care about and never miss an opportunity to sing it's praises.
As a toral stranger, my condolences may be of little value, but I am sincerely saddened to learn this news.

I only just heard about John's passing. I did not know him but his book left an indelible impression on me and I am sure others. It should be required reading for anyone going into office. My deepest sympathy for his family and my endless respect for his insights. I wish I had found the time to meet him.

I had the good fortune to meet John by phone and do some business with him in late 2017. He was great to speak with, friendly, informative, and very knowledgeable. I was attempting to reach him again just before the NRA show and just learned of his passing today. I am saddened, as I was looking forward to talking with him again. God bless you John, rest in peace Sir. Scott, 425-444-0511

I was shocked and greatly saddened upon hearing of John's passing. We were colleagues at E.F. Hutton many years ago, yet my memories of JR continue to burn brightly in my memories.
