Thursday, March 25, 2021. Beloved husband for 60 years of Kathryn (Dillard) Cunningham. Loving father of Joseph R. Cunningham III, and Pete Cunningham and wife Kristen (Shannon) Cunningham. Dearest grandpa of Cassidy, Joseph, and Laci Cunningham. Our dear brother-in-law, uncle, great uncle, cousin, and friend. Preceded in death by his parents Joseph Robert Cunningham, Sr., and Mildred Dorothea Speer, and his brother James (Joan) Cunningham of Florida.
Joe played Major League baseball for twelve years, and continued working for the St. Louis Cardinals Organization for the remainder of his life. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, and was a 3rd Degree: Master Mason, and member of the Shriners Organization.
Services: Visitation 4-8, Monday, April 5th at Ortmann-Stipanovich Funeral Home, 12444 Olive Blvd, Creve Coeur MO 63141. Funeral service 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, April 6th at Chesterfield Community Church, 14647 Olive Blvd, Chesterfield, MO 63017. Interment private at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Donations to Chesterfield Community Church or Salvation Army appreciated.

The Baseball world will miss you sadly, but not as much as your friends and family. You were always good to my family and my children in correspondence. I have saved every letter and card. I enjoyed dinner on the Hill and will cherish the funny baseball stories.
Joe went to Lodi High School with my mother, Margaret (Klein) Lindsay. Joe and His friend “ Lumpy” through my mom into the pool. (Boys having fun). But my mom couldn’t swim and they had to jump in after her.
My thoughts and sympathy go out to Kathryn and the rest of the family at this time.
