Judith Viglione Obituary

Viglione, Judith Ann

December 22, 1946 - January 2, 2025

78, of Ballwin, Missouri, peacefully fell asleep in Jesus at home while surrounded by her family on January 2, 2025, following a brief battle with ALS. Born on December 22, 1946, to Sitky and Helen Tarzy of Union City, NJ, Judy graduated from Douglass College (now Rutgers University) and pursued a career as an analytical chemist before dedicating her life to her family and community.

Judy will be remembered for her unwavering support of her family, her deep faith in Christ, and her commitment to various community organizations. She was a devoted wife and mother, offering regular affirmation and a wry sense of humor to her sons. Always quick to lend a helping hand at school or with her sons' activities, Judy provided constant care to her eldest son during his battle with cancer, doing so with great selflessness and without complaint. As a wife, Judy managed the home and supported her husband, Stan, through multiple relocations in his career. She was well-regarded for her dependability and cheerful nature, forming lasting friendships within her community. Judy was an active volunteer with the St. Louis Area Boy Scouts Council, the Assistance League of St. Louis, and the Church of the Resurrection.

Judy is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Stanley; her son Jonathan (Catherine) Viglione; and her grandchildren Kate and Lily Viglione, Zach (Marina) Rogers, and Amanda and Jacob Becker. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Nancy Dixon, and her son Matthew. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will be cherished by all who knew her.

Services: Funeral service at Trinity Lutheran Church, 14088 Clayton Road, Chesterfield, Friday, January 10, at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Town and Country. If desired, contributions may be made to ALS Association Missouri. Stan is my oldest cousin, a man I've always looked up to and relied upon. When my boys and I were driving back and forth between New Jersey and my home in New Mexico, they took us in time after time, welcoming us with dinners and visits to the museums, and sending us on our way with gifts and snacks for the road. Looking back, I can count at least 8 times from 1993 to 2015 that they hosted us. Judy embraced my sons like they were her own. She was a great lady and I will miss her. George Iannacone

Dear Stan, Jonathan and family.

I am very sorry to learn about Judy. I remember visiting years ago and Judy was so welcoming. She fixed us of lamb which my sons had never had and loved!

I remember Judy and Stan's wedding. I was small then, it was such a lovely and elegant wedding. My sister was a junior bridesmaid and I admired the hat and gloves Judy had selected for the girls to wear. We had the wedding shower at our house in Hawthorne. That shower went down in our family history. Aunt Lucy fell tumbled down the stairs, the power went out and Aunt Dorothy hid in the kitchen when the police came to the door to help revive Aunt Lucy because she was afraid the police would recognize her from the many false house alarms set off at her home in Hawthorne. When I saw Aunt Lucy laying at the bottom of the stairs I ran out of the house shrieking and at that very moment, cousin Bobby was walking up the driveway and went into a panic because he thought it was his mom (Aunt Mary) who had fallen down the stairs. But Judy stayed calm and composed throughout these wacky events and enjoyed the entire shower. She was graceful and we so loved her.
