I just heard about Keith Doder's untimely death a few days ago. He was one of the friendliest guys I've ever met. I went to high school with Keith and over the past 35 years or so our paths would cross occasionally. It didn't matter if you saw him once a month or once a decade, when you were around Keith you were sure to share a lot of laughs and he had an uncanny ability to make you feel worthwhile. He will be missed by all of those who knew him. My deepest sympathy to his family and all his friends.

I was so saddened to hear of Keith's passing. I dated him briefly in college at Mizzou and I thought then that he was the most talented musician I knew, in addition to being so sweet, gentle and fun. I know his spirit and harmonica are making beautiful music in heaven.

I cant help but remember all the fun we had in Rock Hill, feast, polka, road work, texascheck, eggstravaganza, hockey,o day ball, ontario shopping, ham,JT chico, pablito, diddly dee(RIP), cowboy(RIP),Ham, Little Eddy,Rit,Mo Chuck and Bump. Reading the TV guide movie section in your living room with Pablo and laughing out loud.We had tons of fun together and the Rock Hill Gang were as close as friends could be! We were very lucky to have had such friendships when we were young!!Going to Sadies in JTs dads car to see Keith sit in with Tommy Bankhead. We looked liked the kids from Animal House that went to the blues club, but Sadie and all the folks made us feel at home because they loved Keith and knew that he was something special with his music and that he looked at them as equals! I was with Keith the first time he played my harp and he took off from there. All the sports and scandalism of our youth brings a smile to my face.I wish that Keith was still here with us and Im heartbroken that he is gone. Im especially sad for Mr Doder, Pable and Laney. And also for Cindy who I know loved Keith. Keith was intelligent, witty, and he was always extremely sensitive and deep. He cared about others especially the least among us, he found it hard to play the game and i can say that he didnt have a phony, disingenous bone in his body! He was real! He was a kind and loving friend! Keith lived his dream, he was one of the best blues harmonica players in the world!! He worked hard to achieve that goal it didnt come easy!! He was a success and made us all proud. His humor was what Ill remember most about my brother Dode. Like the time he stood up at my wedding and dedicated a blues song to "Rock Hill, a small community nestled in the hills of Missouri"". I know Keith that you are now at peace, no more pain brother! It was my privelege to have such a lifelong friend so real and good.Your a good man Keith Doder enjoy the peace you deserve! Love you Brother!

What a sad moment for the St. Louis music community and just anyone who knew Kieth. I always remember him as a man with a sensitive and gentle soul, and as a highly dynamic and adventurous musical spirit.
My deepest regards also go out to all of Kieth's family and loved ones. God bless you all.
Peace be with you.

My deepest sympathy to Vic, Paul and the rest of the Doder family. We grow up so fast and then we're gone. But the memories of childhood stick with us. The names . . . Dode, Pablo, Mo, Schu, Dirt, Fred, Clyde, Shack. Doder stadium, plastic ball, trading baseball cards, playing war, our Moms in a cloud of smoke gossipping at the kitchen table, Vic at the wheel of the green Rambler carting us all over town to play ball, fuzz ball, O'Day ball, football in the street, the Slope, the Honda trail. It was a golden time to be a kid. Keith was my first best friend. And whenever I think of Keith in the future, I think it will always be as that fair-haired kid with the easy smile and the gentle demeanor that everyone wanted to be friends with. Rest in Peace old friend.

I was crushed to learn of Keith's passing. We traveled quite a few musical miles together, and he was one of the first St. Louis musicians with whom I had the pleasure of performing and recording when I moved there in '87. A gentle sense of humor, nimble mind and great musical sensibility are how I will remember him. May you rest in peace and play with the angels, Keith, and may your family find a measure of peace in the bosom of the great music community which defines St. Louis.

In a city full of great harmonica players, Keith always stood out, as a player, mentor to many, and a truly nice person. Rest in peace.
