I still think of Ken just as I have written about previously, and I am adding this note to reinforce what a terrific human being he was. I am grateful to have known him. I wish there were many more like him.

And now it is 12 years since Ken's passing. I reread what I wrote last year and I wouldn't change a thing. I have all those same thoughts, and wish solace and comfort to all who knew and loved Ken.

How can 11 years have gone by? And yet, now Ken's family has expanded with 2 adorable grandchildren whom I hope have inherited some of his wonderful qualities. I always greatly admired Ken's character and think how the world would be a much better place if there were more like Ken in it. I am glad i had the opportunity to know Ken.

I've known Ken for q;uite some time now. He taught me the various methods of pedaling on an organ. Thanks to him, now i know that the one that is used by organists playing show tunes is called "walking bass" where you tap the pedal with your toe. Sometimes it can be walking "heel-toe" in classical music. The other kind I have learned was "Foot continuendo" which J.S. Bach used in the Christmas hymn "Good Christian Men Rejoice". That is where you put your foot down on the pedal and let it sit there, holding the note thru much of the songl. Ken really hasn't gone away. Not for those who loved him.

I am sorry for your loss. Ken and I are friends from many years past. We were members of the MDC Ski Club together. He played the service for our wedding and composed a special selection as a gift to us. I'm sorry I lost track of him through the years.

I have known Ken for over 20 years, first as a a McDonnell Douglas and then IBM colleague, and then as a personal friend as well. Ken was one-of-a-kind. He combined the best personal qualities (empathy, sincerity, graciousness, helpfulness) with awesome technical capabilities. He was a person who, when you crossed paths with Ken in a day, your day was made better.
Ken loved his family above all. May his memory be a blessing and comfort to you, Dawn, Katie, and Tom, in the days ahead.
With deepest sympathy,

I have known Ken for 1 1/2 years, since he became the Honored Teammate for the Seattle Marathon/Half Marathon team I coached in 2010. Ken always had a ready smile, an upbeat attitude and a willingness to share his wry sense of humor. Ken remained positive even in the face of his progressing disease. He cared very much about others, and made a point to come out several cold mornings this year to wish my team well as we prepared for the Alaska Marathon/Half Marathon June 18. The photo I have included was taken on a cold, wet morning May 14, 2011 at Forest Park. Dawn, Katie and Tom -- I am very sorry for your loss, and I share it. I was lucky to have known Ken, and I will miss him greatly. We will carry his memory and his inspiration with us this Saturday as we continue the fight against blood cancer.

I have known Ken for the last 50 years. He was my best friend in high school and has remained a good friend ever since. His humor, his sincerity, and his loyalty were beyond compare. When Ken said something you knew it was what he meant. I will forever miss my best friend. I know and pray that Dawn, Katie, and Tom will find much joy and comfort in their memories of Ken. I know I will. As Philemon 7 says (my paraphrase), "The hearts of (many) others have been refreshed through you (Ken)." Good Bye Kenny! Thanks for your friendship!!! Ed Blankenship (Butch)

I knew Ken first as a member of the Alton Water Ski Club and then as the organist for our tours at the Fabulous Fox Theatre. He was a very talented man who gave joy to all those with whom he shared his talents and his friendship. He will be missed! My sincere condolences to his family and friends.

I worked with Ken ( remotely) and spoke with him many times on the phone. A group of us met for breakfast a couple of times when I was in St. Louis. Ken was a very very kind man. Please know
that you are in my prayers. John 11:25 I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,

Ken musical talent and sense of humor will be missed. He shared his ability to play the organ with his old high school friends not long ago at the Fox Theater. His sense of humor, love for life and love of his family were well known by all of his friends. To his family: I am sorry for your loss of a wonderful, caring man. God Bless you all.
