When my husband Jianxin and I got married in my parents' livingroom in 2005, only two non-family members attended our tiny ceremony: Judge Margaret, who married us, and Margo. And they were the perfect two. On that day and always after, J and I felt blessed by their wisdom, supportiveness, and love. We were honored to have them join us for our 5-year wedding anniversary in 2010, and although we had moved away from St. Louis, they sent us loving wishes this past spring on our 10th anniversary. Their enthusiasm for us as a couple never waned.
I wasn't able to attend her memorial service, but I'm sure many words captured Margo that day. Someone undoubtedly commented on her joy, her generosity, her kindness, her interest in everything and everyone, her radiant smile, her spunk, and her ability to make it cool to wear Birkenstocks year round, a practice I find myself coming closer and closer to adopting!
I never thought of Margo as a senior. She treated me as a friend, as an equal, and to me it just felt like we had arrived on the same journey at different times. I knew her for a far shorter time than many other people did, but I'll never forget her, and I know J feels the same.
There's a beautiful quote by Helen Keller that happily captures how we feel about Margo: "What we have once enjoyed we can never lose. All that we love deeply becomes a part of us."

To Margaret Nolan and Margo's family, I am sorry for your loss. We can always think of the good memories of her. She will never be far away. She was wonderful person and I loved her laugh.
