Marian Corrigan Obituary

Corrigan, Marian Duffy 91, of Ellisville, Mo., died Tuesday, Feb. 7. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John T. Corrigan of Ellisville; three children and their spouses: Thomas J. Corrigan and Lynn R. Bresko of Greensboro, N.C.; Gail and Patrick Kruse of Town & Country, Mo; Peggy Corrigan and Charles Hantz of Richardson, Texas; a sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn and George McElligott of Galion, Ohio; in-laws Edward and Mary Corrigan, and Roslyn Corrigan, all of Cleveland; 18 nephews and nieces. Marian was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of the late John F. and Mary C. Duffy and grew up along the route of the Erie Railroad where her father worked. As a child, she frequently sang and danced in amateur musicals produced by her father. She graduated from Lakewood (Ohio) High School in 1938, where Ella Fitzgerald sang at her senior prom. She worked for the C&O Railroad and for many years in various administrative positions. She moved with her family from Cleveland to Detroit, St. Louis, Chicago, Salt Lake City and finally to Missouri in 2010. She believed that everyone, but especially women, had a right to dignity and an obligation to fashion. Over the years and continents, she honed her shopping skills to Olympic proportions. She was a good walker, loved to eat good food cooked by other people, drink white wine and listen to Tony Bennett. She worked for others through church groups at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Parish in Holladay, Utah. She was a proud IrishAmerican Catholic. May the good God have her in his keeping. Services will be held in Cleveland and Salt Lake at a date and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Alzheimer's Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO 631323214.

Fond aloha to all the Corrigan family from Peggy's friend, Toni, on Kauai. Peggy and I have shared many loving, funny, happy, and poignant stories about our Moms, and I look forward to remembering Marian in lots of conversations in the future. I send prayers and sincere condolences to all of you, and a special hug to Tom.

Tom,
You and Marian were Lee and my closest friends in SLC. We have missed Lee and now how much we will miss Marian. She was my closest pal. I can just say that I will miss her terribly. My love to you and to the kids. We will stay in touch. Eileen

The world has truly lost a beautiful firecracker. Telephone conversations and car rides took on a whole new meaning when they were with Marian. The LeBarron family will miss her!
