I often wondered how Marian was. After she moved from Cumberland Park I lost track of her. Thinking of you at this time and praying for God's peace for all of you.

Grandma Lewis, thank you for your unconditional love over the years. I can remember jumping on your bed and asking you to push me down. You would say " I can't push you down, I love you too much", then you would push me down and we would repeat (much to my delight) for the next 5 minutes. I remember setting up a wrestling ring in your living room, endless episodes of Carol Burnett with popcorn (poopy corn as you called it), The Three Stooges and Laurel and Hardy. Thank you for being a wonderful Grandmother to your Grandchildren. Goodbye for now and may you rest in eternal peace!!!

Gail, Jerry, Donna - Brenda and I send our sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. For a parent, it is as if one loses a part of themselves. I do remember Aunt Marian from my trips to your house as a kid. As others mentioned, I also remember the treehouse, and the dogs, but most of all a lady with a big smile and someone who always made me feel at ease. May she forever find peace. We are sorry we cannot be there.

I can remember your mom always keep us kids straight from the front
porch of your house I guess it's because she cared for us and what we did. Your mom had her hands full with us she's a special lady. May she rest in peace and in the glory of God.

When we are children, we usually don't realize all the things our mother does for us.
For my mother (a stay-at-home mom) it was weekly washing and ironing.
It was taking care of us when we were sick or injured whether it was a kiss and a bandage or spending the night up with us.
It was cooking meals three times a day. There were very few fast-food restaurants in the late 40's and early 50's. And then, there were the dishes to do. No dish washers.
My mom was such a good cook. We never missed a meal. Loved those chicken and dumplings, spaghetti, chili, pork chops, and a pot roast every Sunday. But mom, why did you make me eat my peas. I hate peas!
She spent summers canning the garden vegetables and making jelly from our fruit trees in the back yard.
She had a love for gardening and had many beautiful gardens. My brother and I will never forget them as often our punishment for fighting with each other was pulling weeds!
As Jerry and I were always fighting and bickering, another of her punishments was making us sit on chairs facing each other and staring at each other. It was probably about 10 minutes, but it seemed forever. It worked (for a while).
My mother will always be remembered for her love of animals. I can't even count the number of stray dogs & cats we rescued. We had chickens, a duck, hamsters, chameleons, birds, a rabbit, a frog, a three legged turtle, fish, and even an ant farm.
Our friends were always welcome. She loved to feed them. I had lot's of sleep overs. Lot's of memories.
Mom wasn't always perfect. She made her share of mistakes. I have forgiven her as she forgave me for mine.
So mom, I thank you for all the sacrifices you made for me. I thank you for my gift of faith. Thank you for teaching me about God and sending me to Catholic School.
Most importantly, thank you for your gift of love.

I met Marian for the first time when Gail brought her to church at Good Shepherd. She was a very sweet woman and I remember thinking that Gail was so lucky to be able to bring her mom to church with her. I only knew her for a short time, however I could tell how special she was to her daughter! She will be missed.

I will miss Marian, sitting at the table in the dining room. I enjoyed helping her with her meal, while I was feeding my brother. She was a sweet and funny lady. Rest In Peace.

My Great Grandma was a wonderful woman. I can recall a couple very special moments with. Not only did she teach me some very valuable life lessons but she also introduced me to spam in my early years. The taste and smell reminds me of her every time. I also remember visiting her in the home and getting lunch together or helping her with laundry. I will cherish those moments as I'm sure many others will cherish the same.

Marian Lewis was a special lady in my book. She was not only the mother of my best friend, but I also claim her as my mother too. My family moved from the heart of St. Louis to Northwoods when I was about 9. I met Marian's oldest daughter, Gail, who was also my age, while we were both out riding our bikes around our neighborhood in Northwoods. Shortly after Gail and I met, we rode over to Gail's house so I could meet her mother. Immediately, Marian greeted me with a quick smile, laugh, and a hug. She was so welcoming and loving. Even as a kid, you couldn't help being drawn to her quick wit, ready smile, infectious laugh, and genuinely warm personality. From then on through high school, Marian was a big part of my formative years. You always knew she was there for you if you needed someone to listen or give you an honest opinion. Thanks Marian for helping me to become the person I am today. Thank you for touching my life in such a profound way. You truly made a real difference just being you. Rest in peace.

Aunt Marian
I will never forget the wonderful times i had staying with you during summer vacations. I remember going to movies, with you, having sleep outs in the tree house. and most of all, I remember all your adorable animals. Thank you for letting me "part owner" of Tiny Tornado. It was you that instilled in me my deep love for dogs. I have had too many to count, all of whom enriched my life, and still do.
You were truly one of the sweetest women I have ever known. You were my favorite aunt, and I think of you often. I love you, and rather think you are watching over some of the dog chaos that I live on a daily basis.

Ms. Lewis,
I miss you, already and always. We have the same sense of humor you and I, and woe to those a bit too slow, right? Thank you for bringing Donna into this world as you have made mine the better for it. Thank you for being part of my life and letting me be a part of yours. Go with the grace of God, knowing you will not be forgotten. So long.

Grandma,
Where do I begin I guess I will start at If I could hold your hand one more time and tell you how much I love you. Our memories will forever be engraved in my heart. I can only wish for my children to have as many memories with their grandma as I did with you. The trips to Mani Thia, getting our nails done, trips to Target for the big juicy hamburgers or my house for you favorite spaghetti. I went downstairs over the weekend and found the poem I read at Grandma Wuebbels funeral the one you told me you wanted to keep for yours. I can't wait for the day to hold your beautiful hands that you were so proud of Iove you Grandma.
Grandchild, please don't mourn me I'm still here,
though you don't see.
I'm right by your side each night and day
And within your heart, I long to stay.
My body is gone, but I'm always near,
I'm everything you feel, see or hear.
My spirit is free, but I'll never depart
As long as you keep me alive in your heart.
I'll never wander out of your sight,
I'm the brightest star on a summer night.
I'll never be beyond your reach,
I'm the warm moist sand when you're at the beach.
I'm the colorful leaves when Autumn's around,
And the pure white snow that blankets the ground.
I'm the beautiful flowers of which you're so fond,
The clear, cool water in a quiet pond.
I'm the first bright blossom you'll see in the spring,
The first warm raindrop that April will bring.
I'm the first ray of light when the sun starts to shine,
And you'll see that the face in the moon is mine.
When you start thinking there's no one to love you,
You can talk to Grandma through the Lord above you.
I'll whisper my answer through the leaves on the trees,
And you'll feel my presence in the soft summer breeze.
I'm the hot salty tears that flow when you weep,
And the beautiful dreams that come while you sleep.
I'm the smile you see on a baby's face.
Just look for me, Grandchild, I'm every place!

Words cannot express my sadness on the loss of such an amazing woman. My grandmother was such a wonderful person, she had a heart of gold. Being the oldest grandchild, I feel so blessed to have had so many wonderful years with her. So many memories with her! She shared her love of cooking, love of animals, and sense of humor with me. I spent many many weekends with her doing hair and painting her fingers and toes, cooking, watching I Love Lucy, and driving around looking at beautiful homes. Grandma, thank you for the love and the laughter you shared with me and the rest of your family. We love you so much, may you rest in peace. Until we meet again. .....

Mom, I will really miss you. You did a lot of things for me that did not go unnoticed. Thanks for taking good care of me when I was tiny. I remember nursery rhymes, stories, and grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup lunches. Thank you for sitting up all night to fix my dress I was making in home ec and messed up the day before I was suppose to wear it to school. Thank you for taking care of all my children and especially every weekend when I was going to nursing school. I wouldn't be a nurse if it weren't for you. I know there are a lot of things you did for me that I was too small to remember. I will miss you MOM. RIP
