Mark Jones Obituary

Mark John Jones, age 81, passed away peacefully on February 14, 2026. He was born on September 7, 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Florence and Marquette Henry Jones.

Mark graduated from Saint Louis University in 1966 and went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force as a Captain from 1966 to 1970. During his service, he received several honors, including the Vietnam Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.

On July 15, 1975, Mark married the love of his life, Linda. Together they built a life centered on love and family, sharing more than 50 years of devoted partnership. Mark was a proud father to Cassy, Floyd, and Mark Henry; a loving Grampy to Amanda, Kyra, Caitlynn, and Brandon; and a proud great-Grampy to Sterling.

Mark will be remembered as an incredibly intelligent man with a calm and caring presence. He never met a stranger, and with a warm smile and a gift for storytelling, he could make any room feel like home. He remained active and hardworking up until the time of his passing, and his strong work ethic and wisdom were admired by all who knew him. Above all, Mark loved his family deeply. His guidance, humor, and love live on through the generations he leaves behind.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Judy Viviano. He is survived by his devoted wife, Linda; daughter Cassy and her husband Jonathan; son Floyd and his wife Michelle; son Mark Henry and his wife Sharon; grandchildren Amanda, Kyra, Caitlynn, and Brandon; and great-grandchild Sterling.

A service will be held at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038, at 12:30 p.m. on March 20, 2026.
