Fournie, Mary

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Mary ("Maymay") L. (nee Lindeman) Fournie was Fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 after a long illness. Beloved wife of Raymond R. Fournie for 47 years; devoted mother of Sarah (Nick) Kheriaty, John (Sheela) Fournie, Anne (John) Sauer and David (Sarah) Fournie; proud and loving grandmother of Jacob, Daniel, Joseph, Claire, John, Margaret, Charlie, Henry, Freddie and Justin; loving sister of Bob Lindeman and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Carl and Dorothy (nee Wetterer) Lindeman, her sister Zoe (Bill) Buckley, her brothers, John (Ellen) Lindeman and Jim (Sue) Lindeman and nephew, Matt Buckley.

Mary was born on October 1, 1954, in St. Louis, Missouri. As a child, she had an avid love of reading and learning that she carried throughout her life. She graduated from Villa Duchesne in 1972. She went on to attend the University of Virginia as a member of the third class that admitted women, and graduated in 1976 with a double major in English and Economics. That same year she attended Saint Louis University School of Law where In 1977 she met another law student named Ray Fournie, and the two were married in 1978. Mary, with her incredible and formidable intellect graduated Order of the Coif in 1979. She practiced law with the firm of Bryan, Cave, McPheters & McRoberts until the birth of her first child in 1982.

Mary's family was the most important thing in her life, and she dedicated herself to nurturing and caring for them. She also volunteered her time with a variety of organizations, among them: Birthright Counseling St. Louis, Immacolata Catholic parish and school, and St. Louis Priory. She enjoyed swimming, birthdays and holidays, going to the Muny, Sunday family dinners, Holiday celebrations and ice cream parties with her grandchildren. Everyone who knew Mary would think of her as an example of faith, selflessness, perseverance, hard work, humility and love. She had a great love of the Eucharist. Although she will be deeply missed, Mary's family and friends find comfort in knowing that she is now at peace in the loving arms of the Lord.

Mary was the most beautiful person inside and out. Her smile and her deep intent to listen when she spoke to you was unparalleled. I will always remember and cherish the support and love she gave me during my Birthright presidency and the fun she was at St Louus Priory. Sending love and prayers to you Ray and to your beautiful family.
