I worked for Mike in the early 90´s. He was a class act and I always looked up to him. I worked mostly at the Jukebox and he treated all of us like family. Many moons later, I caught him walking one of his little dogs in Forest park. It meant a lot to me that he still remembered me. I miss Mike and all the people I worked with at his most famous club. It was without a doubt the classiest night club in St. Louis. God bless you Mike!

My condolances to the Faille Family especially Tony and Mike who I had the pleasure of knowing and working with. Still think about your Dad everytime I make a pizza at home (I cheat with the bobolli pre made shell). Started on the ovens training with Ronnie D. Dennis G. and Jack P. and will never forget Mike promoting me to the big board on the to go side after getting approval from the one and only Unc! With Jack P.,Vicki P., Unc. and David G. up there with you....almost enough to staff a Talayna's in heaven!
I truly believe if God needs nourishment...he would surely start with a Talayna's Caesar followed by a bacon, hamburger and onion thin crust pizza! And if he has thumbs...they would both be up! It was an honor to help keep his legend alive by putting great care into those pies! More than an icon....he was a good hearted man... always ready to share a laugh and a smile. R.I.P.Mike....till we meet again.

Our Prayers and Condolences go out to Mike's family from the “Sherman Brothers”. We loved so many of the same things. We had the Pastrami Joynt down the street from Talayna's and Mike loved to come in for a corn beef sandwich and we loved to come to Talayna's for his pizza. We both loved to dance, but Mike was the best! We remember what a pleasure Mike was when we rented him our dads place at Olive and Price. Remembering when we came to Talayna's bringing along Buddy Hackett, what a great time we all had. Everyone loved Mike, what an Icon. No matter where you would see Mike, he was never to busy or important to take a few minutes to say hello to an old friend. He will be dearly missed by all. P.S. We go way back to watching many of your handball games with your buddy Jules Gordan the creator of the Talayna name. May you rest in peace. Al & Mel Sherman

Taylana's, I always pronounce it Talani's for some reason. Loved their pizza. The facto place to go after concerts. So many fond memories of going there and a staple in my life. My deep condolences to the family.

I was a customer many times at his restaurant. He always treated me like I was his best customer. I brought many local friends and out of town friends/family to the restaurant. Best pizza and best steaks in town. Boys, keep up the find tradition your father placed before you

St. Louis lost one of it's great characters. Aside from great pizza and salad, the absolute best lasagna on earth. In the sixties, we would leave the Shamrock Bar, and invariably head down Skinker to Talayna's.
Along with my brother Phil, the Late Great Teddy Cole and others, Mike was one of the greatest dancers in St. Louis history. Rest in peace Mike.

I workedfor Mike for several years, along with my brother, sister-in-law, and too many close friends to mention. We started with a small dining room to a place that took over the whole corner of Forest Park and Skinker. The famous and not so famous came through those doors, and it was a blast I remember very fondly. We were all part of the success of Talayna's, watched Mike's kids grow up. My prayers are with Tony, Mike and Linda. Your dad was one-of-a-kind.

as both in the restaurant gig. What great great times at the place on skinker, I lived on Waterman when Mike and Jerry Watts opened on Debaliver Blvd and I probably had one of the first pizzas delivered. My deepest condolances to the Faille family.
I was a clubber, like Mike all through the 80's & 90's, and every Hot Spot in St. Louis, is where you'd find us.
Mike always had the most gals around him, because he was always an open Spirit. People just wanted to be in his energy.
In all the years we ran, I never saw him, be unkind, discourteous, or mean spirited to anyone.
His Spirit will be greatly missed, but NEVER forgotten.....He's dancing to the beat of the Ultimate drummer now !

THE best place to go in the 80's was Talayna's on the Landing. Mike was a great man and has given us so many great memories of an era gone by. I feel blessed to have known him. A tremendous loss to the community of STL. I'm sure he was watching the Redbirds win.
