When Michael's family moved to STL, he and I lived on the same street: Kingsbury. It may have been the very last street within the Parish boundaries of OLOL. Between our 2 houses was a great place to play some basketball.
Michael and his SLUH buddies (Mike, Steve, Jim, Joe and Terry) would show up to play + I would be there wanting to be included. Michael was always the gentleman and (reluctantly) would say OK..... We played basketball together for many years on that turntable - long before women's sports became of age.
Michael and all of his buddies went on to SLU and I followed several years later. As time went on, we would all reconnect at halftime of Billiken Basketball games. We'd analyze what the team was doing right or wrong and catch up!
Most recently I reconnected with several of them at the Celebration of Michael's Life at Our Lady of Lourdes. What a beautiful tribute to a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend!!!
And I'm sure Michael saw the Summer St Louis U Alumni Magazine before we alums saw it!! The Lady Billikens Basketball team won the A-10 Championship this year! Thanks, Michael, for being a good sport and letting me play basketball with you!!
I know another Saint has Marched In to Heaven!

I met Mike for the first time, as many federal agents did, when he prosecuted my cases as AUSA. He was easy to work with, made the cases better where needed and very serious in his demeanor. He didn't hold it against me that he was SLUH '63 and I was CBC '63. He also was a fun guy. Periodically, he held court at the infamous Mind Shaft. One night in particular, a steamy Strassenfest Friday night, we may have sought refuge from the heat at "The Shaft" with two coconspirators. Someone decided we should play Luckenbach, TX on the juke box. We played it 17 times in a row. Our attempt at a Guinness world record failed because we ran out of money. For some reason, no one would lend us money to continue. So, there was a serious Mike and a really fun Mike. May he rest in peace. He will be missed.

Our condolences to Marbie and the Reap family. Ursula and I were married in the first wedding of the day at Lourdes 52 years ago on August 8th. Our family and friends were entering the church as the Reaps were exiting their 11 am nuptials. Shared the flowers as I recall! I also knew Mike from SLUH where he was a year ahead of me. We played many years of rugby together at Forest Park and the Midwest. A great guy and teammate, and obviously a talented lawyer. Our condolences

So many great memories with Mike as he volunteered at Our Lady´s Inn. We talked a lot of history and great books to read! He talked endlessly about camping and vacationing with kids and grandkids. He was a kind hearted soul! God will surely bless him!

I have so many happy memories of float trips with Mike (I mean, Mr. Reap!!) and will forever remember him watching the kids on the float do really dumb stuff and all he would do would close his eyes, slowly shake his head back and forth, and mutter, "Boy, I hope they figure it out." Most of us did, eventually! But we also knew that he was there, if we needed him. Love to the entire Reap family on this monumental loss!

To Marbie and the kids: As I wrote to our classmates from SLUH Class of '63, while the warranty has run out on all of us, this news hits close to home.
Mike (or "Reap" as he was to me, and I "Glynn" to him) and I travelled parallel paths for many years. After SLUH, we were classmates at SLU and teammates on the rugby team. After we graduated our law schools, Mike joined the Public Defender´s office in the city, and I joined the Prosecutor´s office in the county. A few years later, and six months after I joined the United States Attorney´s office, Mike joined.
We were close. Three mornings a week, we arose before dawn and carpooled downtown for handball games and running the elevated track at the downtown YMCA before we went to the office. We also were regulars at several other downtown establishments after work.
Those were the halcyon days!
Even after I moved to Washington, we stayed on course within DOJ - Mike at the U.S. Attorney´s office and I at Main Justice. Whenever I would get a call and hear a loud greeting, "GLYNN´" a smile crossed my face to hear from "Reap." Being geographically disadvantaged, I did not see Mike as frequently as those who remained in River City; but I always felt the connection of our youth.
Marbie and the kids, please know that I feel for all of you and that I will always cherish my friendship with "Reap."
