Federal Bureau of Investigation St. Louis Division

January 20, 2022

We are saddened by the passing of Mr. Norman Appelman and offer our deep condolences to his family. We also thank his family for sharing him with us. Norm graduated from our FBI Citizens Academy in St. Louis in 2004. Shortly after, he founded the St. Louis chapter of the FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association. Throughout the years, Norm was determined to grow the association in St. Louis and to ensure its future success. With an all-volunteer board consisting of busy community leaders, it was, and is still hard work. Norm never gave up. He supported the FBI and our law enforcement partners in many ways and often times anonymously. His intentions were 100% genuinely pure. He did not do any of it for publicity. He did it with his heart to help our community. At FBI St. Louis Division, we are deeply humbled by his unwavering support, sincerely inspired by his selflessness, and very blessed to have been his friend. We will miss Norm. May he rest in peace.
