Richard Hawes Obituary

Hawes, Richard Bartow Dee Died suddenly on Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at the age of 65. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Kelly Wardlaw Hawes, his sons Richard Bartow Hawes, Jr. (Audrey) and Smith Nicholas Hawes (Alix). His siblings Christy Hawes Bond (Richard), Felicite Lissy Hawes Pollnow (Fairfax) and Eleanor Chachie Hawes Brennan (William) and his beloved Skeeter. He was preceded in death by his parents Richard Simrall Hawes, III, Marie Christy Johnson Hawes and his sister Laura Marion Hawes. Dee was a graduate of St. Louis Country Day School, Williams College and served as Chairman of Airport Terminal Services. He was an avid fisherman, outdoorsman, a devout Catholic and dedicated to his family. Services: A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at the Church of the Annunziata in Ladue, 9305 Clayton Rd. at Cella Rd., on Friday, June 8 at 11 a.m. Private Interment Calvary Cemetery. Memorials appreciated to Catholic Charities of St. Louis, 4445 Lindell Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108, Alzheimer's Association, 9370 Olive Blvd., St. Louis, MO, 63132 or to Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Attn: Marylue, 8701 Leeds Rd., Kansas City, MO, 64129. I was fishing with various guides in the Bahamas in the last week and, as we looked at the endlessly beautiful water, we all reminisced about Dee. And when I came in at night, I had the joy of hanging out with his son. Great company to all, great dad, part of his memory is in every cast (good and bad) I´ll ever take. He will be long remembered.

So sorry to hear of the loss of Dee Hawes. I always enjoyed my conversations with him at the bridges club upon his return from St. Louis. I am glad I was able to develop a relationship with him over the years he was a member. My condolences to the Hawes family, Dee was a great man.

So sorry to hear of Dee's sudden passing. I knew Dee and Kelly from visits to Charlevoix, MI. A fine couple and family that is now in grief.
