The obituary for Ricky didn't tell the whole story. It said nothing about his energy for living. It was almost impossible to keep up with him! He loved the police, firemen, ambulances and EMTs, and the judge shows. Christmas was by far his favorite holiday. He loved giving everyone who wasn't watching "bunny ears." Messing up your hair was great fun. Every time you saw him, you got a big bear hug and a "slurbert" kiss. He laughed at everything and was usually always in a great mood. He didn't like to miss any kind of outing. I used to tell him that he could even have fun at a dog fight. Everyone had a special nickname he had given you, like "the hairy old lady", "the boss lady", "Miss Bossy" for his sister, "the beast" for Dad sometimes, and his "favorite wicked step-mother" (I was lucky enough to get to fill that title). Ricky never met a stranger. And those who were fortunate enough to get to meet Ricky, never forgot him. He was full of life and refused to miss one minute of it if he was able. Like a sailor, Ricky had a girlfriend in every port, but his ports were the dentist's office, the doctor's office, school and just about any other place he went. To hear someone cursing (especially in movies) made him laugh. If you are the type that likes "57 questions," he could wear you out. He was the king of questions. Ricky had a wonderful voice and loved to sing. We would hear church music and Christmas songs all year long. Like all children, his most hated word was "no" and at times would really get mad. But generally Ricky would take life as it came and he would just roll with the punches. There will never be another Ricky and we miss him terribly. I wish God would have let us keep him a little longer. But He knows best and now our Ricky is in a place where he can sing Christmas songs in July and ask all the questions he wants without any one asking him to hush for a while. He is no longer disabled and can do all the things his body and mind wouldn't let him do here on this earth. I am sure that when I reach the other side that Ricky will probably push every one else out of the way to welcome me with a hug and a "slurbert." And this time I won't care if it messes up my make-up. We love you Ricky and always will. Thank you for such wonderful memories.
