Bob and I worked together at St Louis U when I was chair of history and he was chair of biology. At first, we clashed, but we wound up being best of friends--a friendship that last until last Sunday. Bob was brilliant in his field, a keen observer, with a wicked and wonderful sense of humor. He was devoted to Therese--and my late husand and I loved spending time with them. Bob was also one of my best friends--he and Therese both attended my inauguration as a college Prez. I will sorely miss him.
