Sally G. "Anne" Perry obituary, 1947-2024, Ballwin, MO

Sally Perry Obituary

Anne was born June 20, 1947 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Cecil Howard Griffin and Florence Bowmaster Griffin. She graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She went on to earn her master's in nursing from Saint Louis University and a doctorate in education from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville.

Most of her career was spent elevating the nursing profession through education and research. Along with her co-author and close friend, Anne wrote seven internationally acclaimed nursing textbooks with translations in 11 languages, created one of the first online courses for nursing, and broke new ground in creating nursing videos. Anne received multiple awards throughout her career; most recently in 2016 Anne received the Trudy Busch Valentine School of Nursing Alumni Merit Award and the Legend in Nursing Award from the March of Dimes Missouri Chapter. She was a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and NANDA International, and Professor Emerita at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. Anne's body of work will continue to educate nurses and raise the standard of patient care for years to come.

An artist, a woman of faith, wry and funny and full of love, Anne is survived by her dear husband of 37 years Robert J. Micketts; beloved mother of Rebecca Perry Bryan (Robert Bryan Jr) and H. M. (Mitch) Perry-Cox (Sam Perry-Cox); cherished grandmother of Cora, Amalie, Shep, and Noelle; and many dear friends and colleagues.

Visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday April 10th with funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Grace United Methodist Church, 6199 Waterman Boulevard, St. Louis, MO 63112.

Dr. Perry "Anne" was one of my most memorable and influential nursing instructors at SLU. She truly challenged students, as well as lifted them up. She will not be forgotten and set a standard for others in the nursing profession.
My regards to her family.

Anne was by far the best nursing instructor that I had.
She was tough but fair!
Made you stretch beyond your comfort zone, pushed you to think in order to solve the problems!
She made so many students better nurses because we had her as an instructor!!
Prayers going out to her family and colleagues.
To her family, thank you for sharing her with so many of us, we are SO MUCH BETTER, because she crossed our path
