Thomas Capelli Obituary

Capelli, Thomas Tom Joseph died peacefully in his home in St. Louis, MO, on May 19th, at the age of 67. Tom is survived by his wife, Cindy (Remer); daughter, Marie; son, Tom; stepsons, Blaine Remer (Heather Clark), Nathan Remer (Crystal Albers), and Jared Remer; sister, Sharon Andersohn: and aunt, Paula Higbee (Capelli); as well as by many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Tom was born, the only surviving son of Thomas F. and Maxine Capelli, on February 4, 1949 in St. Louis, MO. He will be remembered for his generosity, good nature, humor, and kindness to others. A passionate progressive, Tom was always concerned with how others were treated. When asked how Tom was doing, his response was always Oh, can't complain (even in his final days). Those of us who were blessed to have known him also can't complain. Services: A memorial is scheduled for May 26th from 4:00-8:00pm at Ambruster Chapel, 6633 Clayton Rd., St. Louis, 63117 with a short tribute at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, Tom requested donations be sent to the Scott H. Oliphant Foundation, a local charity helping families cope with cancer. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Tom's life. If you are unable to attend, perhaps the next time you see a bottle of Cherry Herring, have one for Tom and think of him laughing as we struggle through what he said would be the most interesting election year to date. I have great memories of working with Tom. His wonderful sense of humor always brought a laugh to those around him. In our early days in the plant, I am reminded of the construction helmet he wore that had written on it, "My name is Tommy, if found return me to........" I'm smiling just thinking of it. To Tom's family: Please accept my heartfelt sympathy at the loss of Tom. May you find peace in knowing he was such a wonderful person and friend.

My sincere condolences to Tom's entire family. Tom and I worked together at the St Louis Division and Midwest Area Office. I relied heavily on Tom's counsel and sought it routinely. As we are fond if saying, Tom was one of the good guys! I marveled at his sense of humor. The world is a smaller place without Tom in it. My prayer is that Jesus holds Tom in his everlasting and loving embrace and sends his peace to all who grieve for him.
Sincerely,
