Casey was the singer in my band from high school, The Colons. It was a special time of my youth and I´ll never forget him or the songs we wrote together.

Dear McCausland Family,
Please accept our sincere sympathy in the loss of your wonderful son, Casey. My son, David Scott, became good friends with Casey while serving with the 2008 PRT unit in Afghanistan. He speaks highly of Casey, and I can see why after reading the excellent article in the St. Louis Beacon. Casey lived his life doing what he wanted to do most, serving his country with honor, dedication, and commitment, and we sincerely appreciate that. We extend to you our deepest sympathy, and pray that the strong faith in God that you shared, will bring you peace.

My thoughts and prayers are with your family. I met Casey though our OX Fraternity Annual Float Trip. While we did not attend CMSU at the same time, as with many of our brothers, we were a family. Words cannot express my condolences for your loss. I served as Casey's Commander, B/3-4 ADAR, 82d ABN DIV, in 2004-2006. Casey was nothing short of a true professional and an outstanding young man, who was respected and loved by all. It is an honor just to have known him.

I was honored to serve with Casey in Iraq for Operation Iraqi Freedom 05-07 in Baghdad, where his unit was attached to our battalion. Casey was a fine Soldier and a better man. God bless and keep you all.

Dear Casey. We met in Alabama when you became my roomate at the ptsd clinic, it was so odd that they would put 2 people with the same witty, sympathetic, and empathetic characteristics and bunk them together. I did not know Captain McCausland, but reading his obituary today caused me to find out more about this young man. What I found is what you already know. Captain McCausland was a courageous, caring young man that was severely affected by the ugliness of war. We are honored to have had Captain McCausland being a part of our community and a defender of our freedom. God bless him and his family.
