Trudee Bicket Obituary

Bicket, Trudee LouAnne (nee Schaaf)

April 21, 1939 - April 4, 2025

Born April 21st, 1939, passed on to her reward and entered the Kingdom of Heaven April 4th, 2025, at her home, with her family by her side. Daughter of Clifford and Harriett Schaaf (dec.) Sister of Clifford Schaaf Jr. (dec.), Married to James Michael Bicket Sr. (dec.) for 41 years. Mother of James Michael Bicket Jr. (Janet, Nichole, Anthony, Adriana, Preston & Alexandra) and Kathleen Cheshire (Jeff & Michael)

A faithful and devoted servant of the Lord, and a shining example of his perfect handiwork, our sweet Mom spent her life serving others in a long and varied musical career that commenced with piano lessons at age 10. An accomplished organist, pianist and choral musician who taught both privately and publicly, she taught private lessons most of her life, was a public-school music educator for 26 years and served in the music department of several church families for more than 50 years. She had a far-reaching and long-lasting influence on countless students, colleagues and friends and amplified her talents by sharing her optimism and infectious love of music with others.

A fiercely devoted and resolute wife and mother, she loved her family without measure and worked tirelessly on their behalf. Well-traveled and well-educated, she was a prolific diarist, whose musings and recollections we cherish even now.

Celebration of Life Service at Fee Fee Baptist Church 4.21.25, 9A-11A visitation, 11A-12P service, 12-1P Travel to Jefferson Barracks for a 1P-2P graveside memorial.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Hollenbeck Middle School Band Program, FHSD.

Published by St. Louis Post-Dispatch from Apr. 13 to Apr. 20, 2025.

Mrs. Bicket was my choir teacher at Hollenbeck Middle School (01-04)
I was never a very good singer, but I absolutely loved singing, and Mrs. Bicket knew how much joy it brought me. She even gave me a solo or two. Every day, I looked forward to choir class and keyboarding class.

A memory popped up today 5/28/25, on social media, and it was a photo of the bricks at the Lewis and Clark Statues on Main Street in St. Charles. In 2004, Miss Bicket lost her husband and we came together to raise money and purchased a brick in memory of him. I look for that brick every time I am there and think of them. So today as the memory came across my screen on my phone, I searched Mrs. Bicket’s name and was sad to see of her passing. I know she was such a loved and admired woman who made a difference in many people’s lives. She will be dearly missed.

My life was blessed to have Trudee in it. I first came to know her and her amazing talent when I was preparing to leave for college. At the time (summer 1969), I was serving as the organist at FeeFee Baptist Church and she was to replace me when I left that fall. Little did I realize what a gracious, loving person God had sent into my life. Trudee became very dear to me, playing for my wedding a few years later. Always encouraging me and allowing me to fill in for her on the organ when she had to be away. Through the years she has remained a true friend. Well done, good and faithful servant. Well done.
