William Francis "Bill" Cliffe Jr.

Cliffe Jr., William 'Bill' Francis Welcome into the kingdom of Heaven by the loving arms of his precious daughter Kay, William 'Bill' Francis Cliffe Jr., 72, passed from this life on Nov. 20, 2008 at his home in Imperial, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his parents William F. Cliffe Sr. and Lorene Cliffe (nee Gibson) and sisters Virginia Green and Eileen Collins, and daughter Cathleen 'Kay' Cliffe. Survived by his wife Constance (nee Smith), the mother of his children. Dear father of Connie Wagener (Bob), Colleen Hartfield (Rick), William Cliffe III (Patty), Christopher Cliffe (Sue) and Jennifer Kaiser (John). Proud and loving grandpa of Kaitlin and Kenzie Wagener; Kate Danzey (Brett), Haley and Jake Hartfield, Angie, Christopher and Lauren Cliffe; Eric, Austin and Luke Kaiser; Phoenix Cliffe and Heather and Johnny Munzert. First time great-grandfather to Dalton Danzey. Special brother-in-law to the Smith family and dear uncle to the Jarvis, Green, Collins and Smith families. Dear cousin and friend to many. Treasured childhood friend to the Wednesday buddy meeting of Denny, Ed, Ken, Bob, Joe and Bill. A heartfelt thank you to Jim, faithful friend who took Bill to the bi-weekly gatherings of friends from the old neighborhood. Cherished friend of Don, Jim and Art and phone buddy Bill C., and special appreciation to Bob Rumping for his Christian compassion and friendship. Thank you all for your kindness. Bill was a 39 year veteran of the Mehlville Fire Department, rising through the ranks as Captain to Deputy Chief. He was a charter member of the Mehlville Fire Department Local 1889. He held office in the fire fighters union for many years. No one enjoyed his job more than Bill. He was dedicated to the fire service and to his men. Mr. Cliffe was reared in South St. Louis City and attended St. Columbkillis and St. Boniface Elementary Schools and Bishop DuBourg High School where he was a stellar athlete in football. He was also a graduate of the St. Louis Fire Academy.
