It's hard to believe that Bill has been gone 11 years. I think of him often and can see his smiling face at Holy Ghost Grade School, Aquinas High School, Kirksville, Golf, Cocktails and beyond. Someday we will meet again Will!

"He Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support." Hebrews 13:5
May your heart always find peace & comfort in the knowledge that you are never alone. May God's presence ease your spirit and give you rest when you need it. He knows how you feel. He is ever aware of your circumstances and ready to be your strength, your grace, and your peace. He is there to cast sunlight into all of your darkened shadows, to send encouragement through the love of friends and family, and to replace your weariness with new hope. God is your stronghold, and with him as your guide, you need never be afraid. No circumstances can block his love. No grief is too hard for him to bear. No task is too difficult for Him to complete. When what your are feeling is too deep for words and nothing anyone does or says can provide you with the relief you need, God understands. He is your Provider-Today, Tomorrow, & ALWAYS. And He loves you. Cast ALL of your cares on Him...and BELIEVE.
I LOVE YOU ALL & I'M THINKING & PRAYING FOR YOU.
I FOUND ALL THOSE PICTURES AND THOUGHT YOU WOULD ENJOY THEM, I SURE DID. POPS SPIRIT WILL DEFINITELY LIVE ON FOREVER! I'M GRATEFUL CLAIRE HAD SUCH A WONDERFUL KAW-KAW!

Hey Guys,
Words cannot describe impact of hearing the sad news of Bills passing. I will forever remember him with that big smile and a zest for life that was contagious. I was at the Masters Monday and Tuesday when Hallie called to give me the sad news. As I walked the grounds of Augusta I could not help but think about Bill and our many golf outings and as I said a little prayer for Bill and all of you, a gust of wind let me know he was on the first tee and it would be ok.
Bill made a positive impact on so many lives that his spirit will live on forever.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sandy,Hock,Fuzz,Hoops, and the entire Steinlage family. The angels are learning to whistle!!! Meeting you dear friends in Ballwin, MO was the best part of our family's move to St. Louis, and the hardest part about moving away. When you guys came up to SD to visit and we went golfing, Bill spent the entire round in the trees... he just kept on smiling and laughing and saying "what are you going to do?.. just keep on hitting.. YOU did Bill with so much courage and dignity. No matter what was going on you were always a gentle- man and a gentlemen. I am whistling right now..back at you. Love to you all, Kari

I met Bill my first year of high school, we were in the same homeroom throughout. He was always friendly, kind, had a smile or a story. I sent him birthday cards every year and this year will be very sad. The world was a better place because of him. I will miss his smile.

My sincerest condolences to the Steinlage family and to Bill's many dear friends. He was my friend at Holy Ghost. I moved away 50 years ago and reconnected with Bill via "Classmates.com" last year. It was great to see him in person at the STA reunion I "crashed" last June, but sad that we didn't have more time.... He will always be warmly remembered.

Sending all my love to Sandy, Hockey and the rest of the Steinlage family. Bill was one of the kindest, most genuine men I've ever met. He was a larger than life figure and his smile and good nature will never be forgotten. I loved all our block parties growing up in the neighborhood, and I know they will never be the same without him. Love you Bill.

I've known Bill since kindergarten. We called him Bouy in grade school and his brother Hank was known as Hunky. The Steinlages were the quintessential American family and Bill was a great American we lost. My heart felt sympathy to the Steinlage family.

As I reflect on the love and kindness that Bill had always shown to my family I cannot help but remember the wonderful sense of humor that he had. Many many times, just out of the blue, I have recalled a humorous line that Bill had said to me. It always made me laugh, no matter where I was. He was a genuine and honest man. Bill lead his life with a positive and hopeful perspective. That alone was such a great example of a successful and fulfilling life. He was a peaceful and happy man who did not make life uncomfortable for others around him. In fact, I would have to say he made people feel more comfortable. It makes me proud to say that Bill was my friend. We had so much fun together even if it was just sitting around with the good hands people.
I definately feel that in this case a loss in the flesh is a gain in the spirit. " The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord; and he delighteth in his way." Psalm 37:23
I know and understand that there is great difficulty for those who remain here on earth while Bill goes on to live his life in eternity. I will continue to pray for peace, understanding, strength and comfort for your family.
"Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted." Matthew 5:4
I will miss my friend greatly. I will be here for you and don't forget "cast all your care upon him: for he careth for you" 1 Peter 5:7.

Our first thought is about Bill the host; he wrote the book on warmth and hospitality. Beyond that magnetic personality however, he was open and accepting and very kind. We have no doubt he's a saint in heaven and from that vantage point, he'll continue to watch over Sandy, his children and grandchildren. Rest in peace, cousin and friend.
