Carlos G. Orihuela

Carlos G. Orihuela was born on January 10, 1950 in Mexico City to his parents Pedro Orihuela Velazquez and Constanza Najera Aguilar. They had a total of six children with Carlos being the oldest of the six. Carlos had one sister and four brothers. He also had two half-brothers and one half-sister. When Carlos was ten years old, his family moved from Mexico City to the north part of Mexico, Mexicali, arriving by train. Carlos was always active in the Catholic Church growing up. While in Mexicali, Carlos met a pair of missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and was baptized on his eighteenth birthday. He followed his father, who was a migrant worker, to the United States. After Carlos met and married Letty, he attended a welding trade school locally and began working in the field of construction. He was a welder and did pipe fitting for about 35 years. He traveled to different states for work and even worked in some nuclear power plants. His hobbies included knot tying, spending time with his family, and Friday date nights with Letty. Carlos has remained faithful and strong in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He has held many callings within the church which have included Family History Director, Elders Quorum President, President of the Spanish Branch and a Temple Ordinance Worker in the Sacramento Temple and the Oakland Temple. Carlos met and dated Letty for two years and were then married on April 6, 1970 at the courthouse in Reno, Nevada. Four years later, they were sealed for time and all eternity in the California Oakland Temple in 1974. They were married for fifty-five years. Together, Carlos and Letty had five children: Mark, Paul, Lisa, Gina, and Nina. They have a total of fourteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Carlos loved his family and worked hard his whole life for each of them.
