Jose R. Sequeira

Jose R. Sequeira passed away peacefully at Watsonville Community Hospital in Watsonville, CA. on Saturday, May 31, 2025 at the age of 96. He was born August 1, 1928 in Rosais, São Jorge Açores, Portugal to Jeronimo Da Rosa Sequeira and Rosa De Sousa Sequeira. He emigrated to California in 1966 with his wife Maria and daughter Lydia, in search of a better life. A longtime Tracy resident and member of St. Bernard's Church. Jose worked nearly 50 years as a Dairyman before retiring from warehouse work at the age of 62. In 2019 Jose and his wife, left Tracy and moved to Royal Oaks to be with daughter Lydia and son-in-law Frank. He leaves behind his loving wife of 74 years, Maria Sequeira, daughter Lydia and son-in-law Frank Rosa of Royal Oaks, granddaughter Alyssa Ferreira of Turlock, brother João Sequeira and sister-in-law Maria Hortence of Santa Clara and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Jeronimo Da Rosa and Rosa De Sousa Sequeira, loving son Manuel Sequeira, brothers, Manuel Sequeira, Francisco Sequeira, sisters Serafina Bettencourt, Anna Teixeira and Maria De Fatima Sousa. Services are scheduled for Friday, June 13, 2025; Visitation will be held at Fry Memorial Chapel, 550 South Central Avenue from 10:30 to 12:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at St. Bernard's Catholic Church, a rosary will begin at 1:00 p.m. followed by A Mass of Christian burial will follow at 1:30 p.m. He will be laid to rest immediately following at the Tracy Mausoleum.
