Allie Pauline Mortvedt
Ames - Allie Pauline Mortvedt, 98, of Story City passed away May 27, 2021 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be Wednesday June 2 at 11:00 am at Elim Lutheran Church in Randall. Burial will follow in the Mamrelund Cemetery near Randall. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.
Allie was born on April 6, 1923 in Estherville, Iowa to Frederick and Pauline (Hennings) Loeschen. She graduated from Estherville High School in 1940 and entered the US Navy as a WAVE in 1943. She was discharged in 1946 and married LuVerne Mortvedt on October 11, 1947. He passed away on February 26, 2014. Allie was a homemaker and longtime active member of Elim Lutheran Church. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, needlepoint and playing Bingo. Allie enjoyed traveling with her husband, including winters in Texas, countless fishing trips, Alaska, and across the US visiting family. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly, and enjoyed spending quality time with them.
She is survived by her four children, Jeff (Sue) Mortvedt of rural Radcliffe, Paula Mortvedt and Janet Mortvedt both of Story City and Roger Mortvedt of West DesMoines; seven grandchildren, Adam (Inga) Sanford, Sawyer Mortvedt, Jamie Niemeyer, Jason (Jessica) Mortvedt, Josh (Jess) Mortvedt, Kristi (Jaron) Rohde, Allie (Josh) Kokemiller; 14 great grandchildren, Karina, Johann, Julia, Janae, LilyAnn, William, Ellia, Caleb, Jessa, Luke, Jeb, Evie, Solomon, Zeke and a sister, Helen Newbrough of Humboldt.
Allie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LuVerne; daughter, Mary Niemeyer; great grandson, Matthew Rohde; a brother, Carl Loeschen and four sisters, Louise Adams, Elsie Dalen, Bette Cain and Dorothy Cline.
Memorials may be made to Riverside Bible Camp.
