Barbara A. Larson, 72 of Roland died March 23, 2021 at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Funeral services will be Friday, March 26 at 10:30 am at Bergen Lutheran Church in Roland. Burial will follow in the Roland Cemetery. A flowing visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 7 at Bergen Lutheran Church. Masks and social distancing will be required.
Barb was born on May 5, 1948 in Ames to Rudolph and Johanna (Osheim) Risdal. She graduated from Roland High School in 1966 and attended Luther College. Barb married Howard Larson on June 8, 1968. She worked at Roland-Story Schools as head cook for 33 years.
Barb enjoyed playing games and cards, going to her children and later her grandchildren's activities, working on crossword puzzles, taking photographs, watching NASCAR races, camping in Colorado and cooking. The thing that was most important to her was her family.
Barb is survived by her husband, Howie of Roland; two sons, Tom (Cheryl) and Jeff (Janet) Larson both of Roland; her daughter, Michelle "Missy" (Brent) Larson of Nevada; six grandchildren, Charles, Loralyn, Will, Jacob, Zach and Nick; a brother, Ronald (Sandy) Risdal of Roland and a sister, Julie Gilbertson of Albert Lea, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother-in-law, Davis Gilbertson.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established in her name.
Soderstrum Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
