Dorothy had a passion for people. You could call her anytime day or night and she would be there to offer support. Many problems were discussed at her kitchen table over a cup of coffee. She freely volunteered her time to help others in her community and south Texas.
She loved playing golf and looked forward to spending winters in south Texas each year. For several years she worked at the Jewel Golf and Country Club where she was instrumental in working with ISU to design and build a new clubhouse; many tournaments and new initiatives were started due to her guidance. She loved to travel and was always learning things. She was very creative; she enjoyed painting, sewing and several types of needlework. Some of her most beautiful work was hardanger embroidery; she anonymously provided hardanger bookmarks for all confirmands for several years. Knitting was another of her favorites, making afghans and prayer shawls.
She loved playing cards, most notably Hand and Foot, and taught her family many different types of Rummy.
