Roger Allen Auestad
Roger Allen Auestad was born July 5, 1937 on the farm south of Radcliffe, IA to Rasmus and Agnes (Osmundson) Auestad. Roger attended Randall School, where he met Charlotte Ann Mott. He and Charlotte were married on April 14, 1956 at the old Elim Lutheran Church in Randall, IA. Rog and Char had one daughter, Lori in October 1958.
Rog and Char lived just outside Randall, IA in a farmhouse while Rog worked at the Randall Co-op.
In 1971, Rog and Char built a home on River Hills Drive in Story City and moved there when Rog took a job with Story County State Bank as Assistant Vice President. Rog also held jobs at Wells Fargo Bank, Record Printing and Norsemen Reality. Rog spent many years working with the Story City Economic Development Corporation. He enjoyed recruiting companies to Story City to talk about the benefits of the town and provide them opportunity for success. Rog was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Story City Lions Club and Roland-Story School Board.
Rog had a love for golf and enjoyed the many years he spent living on the golf course whether it was golfing with Char, his dad Ross, grandson Matthew or friends.
Roger passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021 surrounded by family. Funeral services will be Friday May 28 at 2:00 pm at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in the Story City Cemetery. Vistiation will be an hour prior to the service at the church. He is survived by his wife Charlotte and daughter Lori (Curtis) Pankoke; grandson Matthew (Chelsea) Sernett; great granddaughter Lexi Grace; step-grandchildren, Ali (Derrick) Nelson, Kyle (Emily) Pankoke, Stephanie Pankoke; step great granddaughter, Kolyns Nelson all of Lincoln, NE; sister Julie (Jack) Roney of Holiday Island, AK, sister-in-law Karen Auestad of Randall, IA and many nieces and nephews.
Rog was preceded in death by his sister Janet Auestad; parents Ross and Agnes; mother and father-in law, Mick and Irene Mott; sister Marguerite and brother-in-law Bill Hetland; and brother Virgil Auestad.
Roger wore many hats throughout the years, now his most important with The Lord! We will cherish the memories…
Roger always believed, "You gotta have a little fun!"
