Dr. Maxwell was my favorite professor at UNCP teaching me many things. He was a patient man answering my many questions. He introduced us to Scientific American a journal to this day I love, and most of all gave me confidence that I could pursue my dream of a higher education. He was definitely a motivating factor in me becoming a dentist. His integrity, fairness, and making you to strive to be a better student will be missed, but I hope not forgotten. There will be many health professionals that will miss him and remember him fondly but with great respect.

Dave Maxwell was a good friend to my family. He was well loved by the brother-in-law Andy Ash and his wife and children. I was fortunate to be in Dave's company on a few occasions, what a fine gentleman. I hope his family, friends and students find some comfort knowing he impacted so many lives. His legacy lives on...

Dr Maxwell was my favorite professor while I attended Pembroke State University 1986-1990. As a biology major, I was privileged to take a lot of classes that he taught. He was such an awesome teacher and human being, so knowledgeable, patient and genuinely caring. He will always be someone I remember with great respect and admiration. He was so much more than a teacher of biology, by modeling dedication and integrity in how he conducted himself, he inspired others to do the same. Today I mourn one of my most influential role models. My prayers and thoughts are with his family. He was a great man!! Thank you Dr Maxwell for being a positive influence in my life. I love you.

I was shocked to hear of Dr.,Maxwell's death. I didn't realize he was just five years older than I was when he taught me zoology during the spring semester in 1969 at what was then Pembroke State College. I thought he was a great teacher. I used to go by his office and we would have long talks. He was instrumental in my decision to major in biology. May God wrap his everlasting arms around his family and give you peace.

I was at a loss for words after hearing this news. He was my professor at UNCP in 1997-1999. I loved Dr Maxwell. He was one of the catalyst to inspire my love for anatomy. His dry sense of humor when we would go on science trips was memorable. He was one of the reasons I did well at UNCP and gave me the passion to want to become a physician. He will always be a man I will honor and remember forever. RIP we will take it from here. Prayers for the family.

David was such a sweet kind soul. He never said much but he was so thoughtful. David was a wonderful man to our family and became a special part of our family years ago. My heart goes out to my cousin as she is facing some of the darkest days of her live. Love you Vivian and I am so sorry that you are going through this. I am here for you.
