Robert Scott Obituary

Bob fought his entire life against chaotic circumstances and always succeeded. The last couple of years he was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of cancer that took him away to be with the Lord. He was a calming, powerful presence that listened to everyone and everyone listened to him.

Born in Newcastle Upon Tyne in the UK, during the war his parents raised Bob and his younger brothers Colin, and Billy up to be the witty, fun Scott boys, despite hard times, rationing, and other circumstances their family strived. Always joking around but working hard Bob left to the army, which drilled into him his strong sense of survival and discipline for every obstacle in life. Always giving more than he had back to his family. He moved to work offshore on the oil rigs where he stumbled back to an island he had previously visited in the army, Malta, where he met his love, Patricia. Married since 1978 they took each others hand and travelled the world while Bob thrived at Transocean supporting and mentoring all around him. His accomplishments are unheard of without much to back him up in a schooling sense, he started out as tool pusher and worked his way up to Senior Vice President of Operations at Transocean Offshore, while there he invented a dual riser assembly patent which increased productivity by 40% which like in all other aspects of his life he created and revived things to become significantly better than before. After retiring from Transocean he was recruited to become the CEO of Songa Offshore a new offshore drilling contractor, where he initiated, recruited and spurred the foundations of success to where the company was bought out by Transocean for a couple of billion dollars, 10 years after he retired.

Robert James Scott, one out of 8 billion kind gentleman, full of jokes, Geordie humor and always laughing which of course he had to keep up since they have two daughters, Julia and Victoria. A man of simplicity, he enjoyed every moment, in his free time you would catch him at Memorial Park in Sugar Land walking before sunrise with a dog by his side. Regardless of his age he would tire the dog out before completing his average ten mile walk, to return home, spending the day outside in his garden or reading a book. Living his remaining years in Houston, Bob and Patricia travelled around the globe visiting family and friends who were very dear to them. Full of love, his actions will always remain deeply engraved in our hearts, he is greatly missed as a husband, dad, grandad to Cooper, brother, brother-in-law, father-in-law, Uncle, and friend.

Sad to hear of Bob's passing. He was well-respected among the workers and beloved by friends.
..."He was a calming, powerful presence that listened to everyone..." That's the truth.
He didn't know me from Adam but listened to my concerns about an awful work situation. I left his office reassured that I was heard. Don't know what he did, but my problem vanished in the fulness of time. A coincidence? I'm not so sure.
..."kind gentleman, full of jokes, Geordie humor..."
Yes, that is so. One day I started sneezing my head off in the elevator and he said I'd caught a cold from "drinking out of wet glasses." LOL.
May the good Lord comfort, protect, and bless you all until you're reunited in Heaven.
