David Keith Karki, age 53, of Bloomington, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, January 26, 2025, to the tunes of his favorite Christian heavy metal music.
He fought cancer with strength, bravery, hope and faith that amazed all who were near him. He was not afraid of dying because he had accepted Jesus' gift of the forgiveness of sins and knew that his spirit would spend eternity in Heaven. He held death at bay for much longer than anyone thought possible because he wanted to be in his wife and young son's lives for as long as possible. David was a lifelong, diehard Minnesota Viking's fan and he might have lived longer if the Vikings had made it to the Super Bowl, but that is only speculation.
He loved playing the guitar on the worship team at Abundant Life Church in River Falls, playing poker with his friends every other week, tailgating and attending Vikings football games, and partaking in his men's Bible Study group at Grace Church in Eden Prairie. He was passionate about politics having graduated from St. Olaf College in 1994 with a BA in Political Science after graduating from Kennedy High School in Bloomington in 1990. He wrote articles from a conservative perspective for the North Star Writers Group. He also loved to tinker with computers and received his PC/LAN Certificate from Brown College in 1999. He last served Alerus Financial in IT Support and blessed his family as their own personal IT Help Desk Support person. Prior to Alerus, he served Black Box Network Services in IT Support for over 20 years.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 22, 2025, at Abundant Life Church (896 WI-65) in River Falls, WI. There will be a gathering of family and friends following the service.
David was preceded in death by his mother Virginia "Ginny" (Witt) Karki (2024).
David is survived by his loving family: wife Vernessa (Engel) Karki; son Eli David Karki; father Myron Karki of Waconia; sister Andrea (Karki) Lemke and husband Rob of Lake Forest, IL; as well as many other relatives and friends. His gentle, strong and kind spirit will be very much missed.
