Lawrence Schuler Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" A. Schuler, 89, of Waconia passed away peacefully, Friday, March 27, 2026 at New Perspective in Waconia, surrounded by his loving family.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will take place Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church (4025 Main St.) in St. Bonifacius with Ft. Peter Hughes as Celebrant of the Mass. Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Interment in the church cemetery.

Lawrence Anthony was born April 2, 1936 in Watertown, MN, the son of Lawrence and Evelyn (Weinzierl) Schuler. He attended St. Boniface Catholic School until the eighth grade and graduated from Watertown High School. On September 12, 1959, Larry was united in marriage to Fran Kirsch in St. Bonifacius, MN.

Larry was a tremendous athlete in school and was a member of the St. Bonifacius Saints amateur baseball team. They were fortunate to have been the state champions in 1961, 1964 and 1965. His country and community were of great importance to him. After completing high school, Larry proudly joined and served in the United States Army. He continued that support as a life-long member of the American Legion. Larry also joyfully served as a volunteer firefighter and helped in the community whenever a need arose.

Faith held his focus and he was a devoted member of his church, served on the parish council, as a lector and eucharist minister. Serving the Lord brought him immense joy and fulfillment.

Free time was spent in the great outdoors, hunting fishing or taking in a round of golf. Larry was also an avid Minnesota Twins fan and took in a game any chance he got. All of which was shared with family and friends who were his treasure. Attending events with them like fish frys and the grandchildren's activities were top priority. Larry's faith, integrity, and selflessness will forever be remembered by his loved ones.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents Lawrence and Evelyn Schuler; brothers Dennis Schuler, Donald Schuler, David Schuler, Roger (Karen) Schuler; sister Sharon Donovan; father-in-law and mother-in-law James and Frances Kirsch; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law James (Ruth) Kirsch, Leon Kirsch, Florian Kirsch, Marion (Larry) Wren, Dick VanEyll.

Larry is survived by his loving family: wife Fran; children Pam (Chuck) Schmitt of Chaska, Jeff (Nancy) Schuler of St. Bonifacius, Jon (Stacie) Schuler of Waconia; grandchildren Laura (Ross) Stecklein, Alex Schmitt and fiancée Shannon Stahn, Anna Schmitt and special friend Peyton Bolstad, Ashley (Stephen) Ronning, Nicole Schuler, Jessica Schuler, Brandon Schuler, Megan (Ethan) Roe, Blake Schuler and special friend Eryn Winkelhake, Lauren Schuler and special friend Sam Berger; great-grandchildren Colbie Stecklein, Roy Stecklein; sister Audrey (Dean) Geiger of Waconia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Mary Schuler of Waconia, Linda Schuler of Waconia, Donna Schuler of Waconia, Delores VanEyll of Waconia, Ray (Clarice) Kirsch of St. Bonifacius, Gerry Kirsch of St. Bonifacius, Linette Kirsch of St. Bonifacius, Ruthie Brethorst of Shakopee; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
