Daniel "Danny" H. O'Connor, age 63, passed away unexpectedly on November 10, 2025 after suffering cardiac arrest.
He was born on February 17, 1962 to Michael W. and Anita L. O'Connor and grew up in Burnsville, MN with his five siblings. Danny attended school at St. John the Baptist in Savage, Academy of Holy Angels in Richfield and then studied at the University of St. Thomas and the University of MN, where he earned his degree.
Danny worked most of his years in a variety of jobs in the service industry, starting at the family hot dog concession stand at the MN State Fair. He worked in the hotel and restaurant hospitality industries for many years, and then moved into the airline industry, working as a station manager for Sun Country Airlines in Laughlin, NV, and then as a flight attendant for Endeavor Air. He most recently celebrated 11 years of working at Total Wine in Burnsville where he excelled in sales in the "spirits" area. He received many awards and commendations there and many customers returned to see him because of his product knowledge and great recommendations!
Being outdoors in the sun was something Danny really enjoyed- working in the yard and gardens (his mom would have been so proud), taking walks and talking with the neighbors, and laying by the pool at his condo in Arizona, where he had hoped to retire someday. He enjoyed nature and animals, especially the many family dogs. Danny also enjoyed reading, going to the gym, meeting up with friends, and his weekly Saturday night family dinner out at favorite restaurants.
He loved his niece and nephews and was a fun babysitter for them when they were younger, and later he enjoyed watching them grow and see some of them start their own families. He had such a great memory and could recount many stories of the past that brought so much joy to his family and friends. Danny's smiles and laughter were contagious and heartwarming - he will be greatly missed by so many.
Danny had a wonderful, friendly personality and a great sense of humor with plenty of Irish charm. He would often give a little nudge of the arm and compliment you, give a wink or make a funny comment and giggle. He had the knack for cheering you up! Danny's sense of humor was surpassed only by his love and devotion to caring for his mother for years during her illness, and then in helping his father after her death until Danny's own untimely passing.
Danny is survived by his father Michael W. O'Connor; siblings Deb O'Connor, Katie (Mike) Beckius and Thomas O'Connor. He is also survived by his nephews Dan, Michael (Jenn) and Patrick O'Connor, Joe (Natalie) Lehman, Matt Cramer, and niece Megan (Joey) Benson; along with his bonus niece Chaz (Erik) Berquist and nephew Dustin (Erica) Beckius; and also by many great-nieces and nephews and other relatives and wonderful friends.
He was predeceased by his beloved mother Anita L O'Connor; siblings Willie O'Connor and Kelly Becker; nephew Jeremy Hagen; grandparents Jay and Patricia O'Connor and Al and Florence Woods.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Mary, Mother of the Church (3333 Cliff Road E, Burnsville, MN 55337). Memorial visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the church prior to mass. Reception to follow. A private burial will be held in the future.
