Evelyn Kingma, 96, of Burnsville, MN, passed away on Monday, October 20th. With family by her side, she was sent to be with her late husband, Simon, and numerous family members that preceded her in death.
Evelyn was born on April 23, 1929 in Princeton, MN. She was raised on a farm by Clara her mother and Roy her father. Being an only child, she loved her dog Skitz and had a three legged pet deer named Bambi.
Evelyn met Simon Kingma in her late teens, married and started a family. First son Brad, second son Tim, daughter Jill and daughter Melody. Eveyln raised her kids to be hard workers and enjoy the fruits and vegetables from their garden. Most of all she taught them all to fish. That was Evelyn's most loved thing to do.
The family enjoyed many vacations around the US and embraced the beauty of many National Parks. They also enjoyed many animals, motorbikes and cars.
After the kids graduated and moved on, Simon and Evelyn enjoyed their retirement years at lake homes in Outing and Annandale. If anyone knew anything about Evelyn, it was her love for fishing. Her lakeside property gave her and Simon the freedom to enjoy retirement and host the family for many events through the years. They loved the quiet lake life with their beautiful cat, Fluffy. After many years of caring for the lake homes, it was time to lighten the work load, so they moved back to Burnsville and spent the rest of their time together in a nice one level townhome. Mom hated leaving the lake but finally getting her first dishwasher made it easier to accept. Now they could enjoy being closer to their children and grandchildren. Life was calm and easy, but still did some fishing and camping.
After the passing of Simon in 2015, Evelyn's life was joined with her daughter Melody for about 5 years, and granddaughter Josie for a few months. But her favorite roommate was her cat Wally.
Evelyn was greeted into heaven by her loving husband of 67 years, Simon, her parents Clara and Roy, many brother and sister-in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins and all of their beautiful furry pets.
She will be deeply missed by children Bradley (Patricia) Kingma, Timothy (Laurie) Kingma, Jilleen (Mark) Huss, and Melody Kingma; grandchildren Dustin (Kinga) Kingma, Amy Kingma, Connor Kingma, Colleen Kingma, Brandon Kingma, Cora (Frank) Smith, and Josie Huss; sisters-in-law Ruth and June and various nieces and nephews.
Her sweet giggle, love for fishing, and baked goods will be incredibly missed. We will hold her beautiful smiling face in our hearts forever.
