Glenn Langord Obituary

Glenn "Barney" A. Langord, 95, of Lakeville, passed away peacefully at home on December 1, 2022.

Born in Blackduck, Minnesota, September 8, 1927, to Henry, Jr. and Jennie (Ditty) Langord, he grew up and attended school in Blackduck.

After high school, Barney joined his brother, Harold, in the U.S. Navy. He was headed for Japan when WWII ended in 1945. Barney went to Minneapolis Business College and while living in Minneapolis met his wife, Betty Mae Aronson. They were married in her hometown of Lakeville on August 19, 1950.

Barney and Betty moved to Blackduck where he completed his time as a journeyman plumber and daughters, Catherine and Laurie, were born in Bemidji. He later became a Master Plumber. The family then moved to a farm near Lac Lavon in Burnsville and Barney went to work for Richfield Plumbing. They later moved to Lakeville where he owned and operated Lakeville Plumbing and Heating. The last 20 years of Barney's career were spent as Plumbing and Heating Inspector for the City of Lakeville. He also served 20 years as a volunteer firefighter in Lakeville and "Lion Glenn" spent many years as a member of the Lakeville Lions club.

Barney's favorite hobby was golf and he and Betty were members of Northfield Golf Club for over 50 years. He had three holes-in-one, two of them after he was 80 years old. They also enjoyed playing bridge with their many friends.

Barney is survived by daughters, Catherine (David) Langord Wall and Laurie (Doug Grove) Langord; by grandchildren Kate (Val Critser) Wall, Carolyn (Leo) Campero, Nathan Schweich, Sten (Sarah Friday) Wall, Daniel (Jen Feldhake) Schweich and Julie Schweich; great-granddaughters Jannike and Saylor; sisters-in-law, Nancy Langord and Barb Aronson; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 69 years, Betty Langord; brother, Harold Langord; sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Wally Page; sisters-in-law, Mardell (Gerry) Blaufarb, Mary Lou (Lyle) Ruh; and brother-in-law, Glenn Aronson.

Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 8, at St. John's Lutheran Church, 20165 Heath Avenue, Lakeville, with visitation at church beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The Langord family would like to thank all the staff at Kingsley Shores senior residence, the staff of River Valley Home Healthcare and nurse April, the staff of Grace Hospice, and doctors and nurses at Minneapolis Veterans Medical Center for all their wonderful care. We will be forever grateful.
