Michael Scott, age 58 of Northfield, passed away peacefully at home, with his family by his side, on Thursday morning, July 27, 2023, after an almost three-year battle with pancreatic cancer.
Michael David Scott was born on August 30, 1964, in Minneapolis to William and Janice (Burnette) Scott. He grew up in the Lakeville/Farmington area and attended school there. After school, Mike started working at Greif Brothers Printing as a printer and eventually maintenance. After 15 years there, he started working for the Farmington School District as a custodian. Mike would work there for 22 years before retiring. He was so passionate and proud of his job, and the staff and students loved him so much. All of the students called him "Mr. Mike!"
In his free time, you could find Mike working on model cars and restoring muscle cars. In his lifetime, Mike restored 24 muscle cars, including a 1973 Dodge Challenger that currently sits in his garage. His work on scale model cars was unprecedented. He was in several magazines and won first place this year in the GSL (International Grand Scale Vehicle Championship) in Utah. Mike left a legacy among those that knew him in this arena, as it was his passion.
Hard worker. Two words that describe Mike perfectly. He provided for his family and instilled his work ethic in his two daughters. It didn't matter how "small" the accomplishment was, Mike was both happy and proud. His best friend was his wife, Tina. He taught her many things and was sure to leave instructional videos for her as to the different things that need to be cared for. Mike even taught Tina how to mow before he passed, to be sure she had all the skills necessary to care for herself when he was gone. Conscientious and kind might begin to describe his relationship with his beloved. Not only to his family but to those that knew him, Mike left a legacy and will be deeply missed.
Mike is survived by his wife, Tina; daughters, Bobbi Jo Scott of Sandy, OR and Laura Scott of Northfield; grandchildren, Dylan Budin, Chloe Kitchenhoff and River Stasi; mother, Janice (Pat) Lucast; and siblings, Fred Scott of Lakeville, James (Kari) Lucast of Lakeville and Kathleen Warner of Northfield.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bill Kaslow; grandparents, Leroy and Betty Burnette; and uncle, Kevin Burnette.
Arrangements are with Bierman, Benson & Langehough Funeral Home & Crematory, Northfield.
