Mr. Adrian Gordon Lee, age 74, of Ocean Springs, MS., died Sunday, June 6, 2004, in Ocean Springs. Mr. Lee was born in Pinola, MS., on August 3, 1929. He was a real estate broker, political activist, pilot, self-employed businessman, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs. Living his earlier years in Sondheimir, LA., he graduated from Lake Providence High School and attended Northeast College in Monroe, LA., and Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA. He was previously employed by the US Corps of Engineers, Waterways Experiment Station in Vicksburg, MS., and served on the Mississippi State Oil and Gas Board, the Board of Directors and Deputy Executive Director of the Pat Harrison Waterway District in Hattiesburg, MS., and a former elected member of the Mississippi House of Representatives from Natchez, Adams County, MS. Mr. Lee was also a member of the Masonic Harmony Lodge, the Grand York Rite Bodies of MS., both in Natchez, MS. He was a charter member of the Order of the Eastern Star #394 of Ocean Springs, a member of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association and the Florida Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association, the Pilots International Association, and was a lifetime member of the 1699 Historical Committee in Ocean Springs. He was a former member of the Jackson County Republican Executive Committee, and Republican Municipal Chairman for the City of Ocean Springs. His name selection was chosen for the Joppa Temple and was a charter member who served on the organizing committee. Mr. Lee was a private pilot and enjoyed breeding and racing thoroughbred horses in his later years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Porter Shelby Lee and Elizabeth Flora Vining Lee, his brother, Buford Lee, his sisters, Janet Lee, Helen Whitten, and Doris Cain. Mr. Lee is survived by his wife of 51 years, Joan Alsup Lee of Ocean Springs, his son, Adrian G. Lee, Jr., of Ocean Springs, MS., daughters, Charmaine Brown of Jackson, MS., and Carolyn Lee Tillinghast of Saucier, MS., brothers, Wilford Lee of Woodlands, TX., Mims Lee of Houston, TX., and Prentiss Lee of Silver Creek, MS., sisters, Wilma Moore of Rayville, LA., and Joy Thurman of Monticello, MS., granddaughters, Rena Olivia Tillinghast of Saucier, MS., and Britney Elliott Lee of Konawa, OK., and grandsons, Brandon Louis Brown and Ryan Lee Brown, both of Jackson, MS., and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Tuesday, June 8, 2004, from 6-9 PM, Ocean Springs Chapel, Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. On Wednesday, June 9, 2004, there will be a 2 P.M. church service at the First Baptist Church in Ocean Springs, where friends may call from 1-2 P.M. Burial will be in Crestlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers the family prefers donations be made to The First Baptist Church of Ocean Springs, 602 Washington Avenue, Ocean Springs, MS., 39564.

Janie and I send our fond memories and heartfelt prayers to the entire Lee family. Adrian was a man of diverse interests with a deep undercurrent of christian concern for his fellow man.
