Dr. Edward Matthew Rehak, 82, died on September 11, 2006 of a stroke at a hospital in Gainesville, GA.
Mr. Rehak, a retired pathologist, received his medical education at Georgetown University. After internship and a residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital at Mount Alto in the District of Columbia, Dr. Rehak become a pathologist at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. He held other posts, including a professorship at the Women's Medical School in Philadelphia, before becoming chief of pathology at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore from 1960-1970. In 1976, he became pathologist and laboratory director at Gulf Coast Community Hospital in Biloxi.
Dr. Rehak was very active in the medical examiner's office of Mississippi and closely associated with the Harrison County Coroner's Office. He was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Biloxi. He retired in 1993 and returned to Baltimore.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, the former Mary Catherine Krepp; four sons, Frank Rehak of Baltimore, MD, Matthew Rehak of Bel Air, MD, John Rehak of Grapevine, TX, and Mark Rehak of Gordonville, PA; four daughters, Mary Clare Smith of Charlottesville, VA, Ann O'Connor of Mobile, AL, Ellen Gravemen of Jefferson, GA, and Margaret Cochran of Fishers, IN; a brother, Dr. Joseph Rehak of Towson, MD; and 13 grandchildren.
Services are private.
