Emmett Niolet Obituary
1921 ~ 2015
Long Beach
Emmett John Niolet, age 93, was born February 7, 1921, in Dedeaux, MS and passed away on January 17, 2015. He graduated from Dedeaux High School. Emmett served in the US Army during World War II in the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division in the Medical Corp. He and his regiment were credited with liberating Dachau Concentration Camp. The 42nd Infantry was awarded and decorated with numerous citations including the Presidential Unit Citation for Extraordinary Combat Heroism and the Bronze Star.
After the war, Emmett became a master carpenter whose handiwork is featured in many Coast homes. He later worked for Stennis Space Center and retired in 1983. Emmett was an avid outdoorsman and loved spending time with his family.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank and Lena Niolet, his brothers, Milton, Saul, and Avery, his sisters Mae Scarborough, Myrtle Cuevas, Velma Dubuisson, and Mamie Ladner.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Theresa Schepens Niolet, his children Deborah (Pete) Clark, Susan (Kenny) Walker, Frank Niolet, his grandchildren, Tonya Chevis, Michael, Justin, Kelsey and Lauren Niolet and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas Catholic Church on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 2 pm. Visitation with the family will be from 1 pm - 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to St. Thomas Catholic Church, 720 E Beach Blvd, Long Beach, MS, 39560
