Jean Thompson Travis, 74, of Pascagoula, MS, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2004, in Pascagoula, MS.
She was born September 9, 1930 in Swainsboro, GA and has been a resident of Pascagoula since 1961. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She was an elementary teacher for over 10 years at Cherokee and Eastlawn Elementary Schools. Mrs. Travis was an active member of First Baptist Church in Pascagoula where she was involved with the W.M.U. and Senior Citizens Choir. She was a volunteer for Singing River Hospital Auxiliary.
Preceded in death by: her father, Harvey Hall Thompson.
Survived by her loving husband of 50 years, M.H. "Mac" Travis, Pascagoula; mother, Grace Underwood Thompson, Biloxi; two daughters and one son, Cindy Hopper (Steve), Ocean Springs; Diane Altsman (Rick), Diamondhead; Glenn Malcolm Travis (Gail), Spanish Fort, AL; sister and brother-in-law, Carole King (David), Hattiesburg, MS; nine grandchildren, David, Mark, and Kyle Hopper; Travis, Amanda, and Melissa Altsman; Heather, Kayla, and Kevin Travis; numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 8, 2004, 6-9pm, at O'Bryant-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Pascagoula, MS.
The funeral service will be Saturday, Oct. 9, 2004, 11:00am, at First Baptist Church in Pascagoula, MS with Dr. Rex Yancey and Rev. Dennis Ray Smith officiating. Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the church.
Interment: Jackson County Memorial Park, Pascagoula, MS.
In lieu of Flowers, memorials may be made in her memory to Camp Bluebird c/o Singing River Hospital, 2809 Denny Avenue, Pascagoula, MS 39581 or American Cancer Society.

So sorry to hear the news. I found this for my mother (Ruth Henry Hickman). She has always had warm memories of Jean and the other "cousins".
