Ocean Springs, Mississippi - John L. Bailey, 90 of Ocean Springs, passed away on November 9, 2023.

John was born in Huddon Heights, NJ where he lived until High School. He then moved to Long Branch and Monthouth Beach, NJ during his freshman year at Rutger's University. He joined the USAF in December of 1952 where he was an aircraft radio technician. He was transferred to Korea in 1954 and participated with the F-86 Fighter Bomber Squadron. He served a total of ten years in the military and was stationed at multiple locations in the United States. He married his first wife, Barbara in 1956 in New Jersey and through his career settled in Pass Christian, MS in 1969, the year hurricane Camille hit. He then moved his family to Ocean Springs. He worked many years at Stennis Space Center and in the Ship Building Industry on the Coast. He loved traveling and going on cruises with his second wife, Marjorie, who he married in 2010. He was an active member of the Biloxi Yacht Club as well as the Elks Club. He will be missed at the "Tuesday Morning Breakfast" with his group of male friends. He was a loving father as well as a compassionate and generous person.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Leon and Elsis Bailey; first wife, Barbara of more than fifty years; and stepson, William Murphy.

He is survived by his wife of fourteen years, Marjorie M. Bailey; sons, James and Steven Bailey; stepsons, Robert and Tracy Murphy; and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Thursday, November 16, 2023 at Bradford-O'Keefe Funeral Home, Ocean Springs, MS. Friends may visit one hour prior. Burial will follow at Crestlawn Memorial Park.
