Ocean Springs, Mississippi - John Patrick Cronin, 80, of Ocean Springs, MS. passed away peacefully in his home among family on Sunday the 16th of November, 2025 after a long and brave battle with Parkinson's. He was born in Seymour, Indiana on December 3, 1944. Affectionately known as "Pat" to family, friends, and community members, he dedicated his life's work to walking the path of spiritual exploration, care, and growth both inside and outside the classroom.

A memorial will be held at St. Alphonsus in Ocean Springs on Wednesday, December 3, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. As a lifelong educator, Pat's love of learning and curiosity positioned him as a compassionate and active mentor for many church and community members. He has walked many paths alongside those seeking to deepen their faith, his gift was that of vision and witness, inviting all to embrace God's love regardless of where they were on their life's path.

Pat is preceded in death by his parents, Katherine Cronin Gordy and AJ Cronin, and Kim Cronin Roe, his sister. His life is celebrated by his loving family: wife, Joy Cronin; children Jay Cronin, Christian Cronin, Will Kouns, and Jeff Kouns and wife, Ann Eleece; 5 grandchildren, Kaya, King, Khrist, Cameron and Ansel, brother Paul Gordy and godson Andrew, many nieces and nephews, and many friends, and parishioners.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the entire staff at Vital Care Hospice in making Pat's last weeks comfortable and well cared for.

Pat donated his body to science to further the study of Parkinson's disease. As a devoted catholic, education was a cornerstone of Pat's life. He graduated from Conception Seminary College. His thirst for knowledge was only matched by his desire to share with others. His last post as Director of Religious Education at St. Alphonsus allowed him to bridge his love of education and theology among a loving and vibrant community. Pat will be greatly missed.
