Mr. John Chester Majure, Sr., 83, of Gulfport died Monday, August 11, 2014. Mr. Majure was born on December 10, 1930 in Carthage, Mississippi to the late William Earl and Nancy Majure. He retired after 29 years of teaching with the Gulfport city schools system where he was a teacher and friend to hundreds of students over the many years he taught. His favorite hobby was flying his vintage airplane. He will be best remembered as a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. E. Majure of Meridian, Mississippi, and brother, William E. Majure of Meridian Mississippi. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Elaine R. Majure; two sons, John C. Majure, Jr. and William W. Majure (Gail Majure); sister, Bobbie Majure Thomas; three grandchildren, John C. Majure, III, Garrett Dombrowski, and Reed Dombrowski, and several special nieces and nephews. A private graveside service at the Biloxi National Cemetery was held Wednesday morning for his family under the direction of Southern Mississippi Funeral Services in Ocean Springs. I am so sorry for your loss. I have so much respect for Mr. Majure as a teacher and friend. We had motorcycle fun during high school when I was a student and he was my teacher. I send my prayers for Elaine and the boys.

Mr.Majure was my marketing teacher at Gulfport High from 10th grade thru 12th. He made coming to class so much fun. He always had a smile on his face and he enjoyed talking about his family and flying his plane. I have many fond memories of him that I will forever cherish.
