Saucier, Mississippi - Joseph Morris Shimp, 77, of Saucier, MS died Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at his home in Saucier.
Mr. Shimp was born in Baltimore, MD and had been a Coast resident for about fifty years. He previously served in the US Navy and was a member of the Catholic faith. Mr. Shimp was a residential and VA appraiser for forty years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William H. and Mary Morris Shimp and a brother, Buzzy Shimp.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Mary Mixon Peralta Shimp; a son, Gerald Peralta; three sisters; Carol Kober, Theresa Pat and Iva Misko; two brothers; Sanford Shimp and Billy Shimp; and three grandchildren; Theo, Owen and Grace.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 27, 2021, at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 9062 Kiln Delisle Road, Pass Christian, MS where friends may visit beginning at 9:30 a.m. Interment will be in Live Oak Cemetery in Pass Christian.
The family prefers memorials to St. Vincent DePaul Community Pharmacy, 715 B Division Street, Biloxi, MS 39530.

I am so sorry to read Mr Shimp´s obit. I first met him in the 80´s when I worked the film developing counter at Calvert Pharmacy in Biloxi. After many years I ran into him at church at Nativity, I do not think he remembered me but I did speak to him. Then a few months ago I ran into him again at the Dollar General on Hwy 67. I asked " what are you doing up this way?" He replied I live up here in Saucier. I said " oh, we just moved up here in April 2020." After some small talk we went on our way. Rest In Peace Mr. Shimp. I´m so glad our paths crossed the past few years. He was always so nice to me when I developed his film, even if they didn´t come out quite right. He knew it wasn´t my calling, which he was right. Please accept my deepest condolences to Mrs. Shimp and family.
