Leretta Dixon Turnbough, 92, of Gulfport, died Wednesday July 30, 2008 in Atlanta, Georgia where she had been living since Hurricane Katrina.
Born June 22, 1916, she spent most of her life in her birthplace, Gulfport, MS. She was the daughter of the late Will Dixon and Eugenia McGee Dixon, the second youngest of their seven children, Bertha, Roscoe, Francis (Sugar), Willie (Son), Hubert, and Big Sister. For most of her life, she was self-employed drapery seamstress.
She is survived by grandson, Joel Grimmette III, grand-daughter, Natasha Trethewey, great granddaughter, Pearje' Grimmette, grandniece, Tamara Jones, and nephew, Roscoe Dixon, Jr. A daughter, born Gwendolyn Ann Turnbough, predeceases her.
The memorial service will be held at the Greater Mount Olive Baptist Church, Gulfport on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Philip McSwain officiating, with visitation one hour before. Burial Pine Ridge Gardens, 28th Street, Gulfport.
