Louis Guirola, Sr., age 90, of Gulfport, formally of Miami, FL, passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017.
Mr. Guirola was born in Havana, Cuba to Pedro and Eugenia Toledo Guirola. He immigrated from Cuba in 1949 and became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1956. He formally served in the Merchant Marines and retired in 1986 as a Chief Engineer on the research vessel Oregon II for the 1NOAA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Pedro Guirola.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Ruth Amelia Guirola; children, Louis Guirola, Jr. (Stephanie) of Gulfport, Raymond Guirola (Janie) of Miami, FL, and Edward Guirola of Vancleave; siblings, Eduardo Guirola of Cuba, Ernesto Guirola of Miami, FL, Elvia Jackson of Miami, FL, and Elsa Gimenez of Miami, FL; 8 grandchildren, Angela, Kathryn, Melissa, Charles, Tanya, Jamie, Kristian, and Louis; and 8 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2017, at RIEMANN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 11280 Three Rivers Road, Gulfport, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 1:30 p.m. Entombment will be at Southern Memorial Park in Biloxi.
