Malcolm Travis Obituary
December 14, 1925 - July 5, 2018
Pascagoula
Malcolm "Mac" Huff Travis, age 92, of Pascagoula passed away on Thursday, July 5, 2018. He was born December 14, 1925 in Magnolia, Mississippi and has been a resident of this area since 1961. Mr. Travis was a United States Navy Veteran having served during WWII. He graduated from Mississippi State University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. In 1991, he retired from Ingalls Shipbuilding after 30 years of service. Mr. Mac was a devoted and active member of First Baptist Church in Pascagoula where he served as Brotherhood president and chairman of a number of building committees. Mac was a former chairman of deacons and was given a special recognition as Lifetime Deacon. He was a former president and member of Kiwanis Club and mentor of Key Club.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Jean Thompson Travis; brother, Nicholas Burke Travis, Jr.
Mac is survived by two daughters and one son, Cynthia "Cindy" Jean Travis Hopper (Steve), Ocean Springs, MS; Diane Huff Travis Altsman (Rick), Diamondhead, MS; Glenn Malcolm Travis (Gail), Ocean Springs, MS; two sisters, Eleanor Prescott, Birmingham, AL; Jane Richmond, Mc Comb, MS; nine grandchildren, David, Mark, and Kyle Hopper; Travis Altsman, Amanda Wesley, Melissa Altsman; Heather Thomas, Kayla Travis, and Kevin Travis; 5 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Monday, July 9, 2018, 9:00-11:00am, at First Baptist Church in Pascagoula. Funeral Service will begin at 11:00am with Rev. Dennis Ray Smith officiating at the church. Interment will follow at Jackson County Memorial Park, Pascagoula. In lieu of flowers, donations to www.alz.org/ms would be appreciated. The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to the many caregivers who helped Mac on his journey.

Mr. "Mac" was a fine man. We thought a lot of Mr. Travis and I'm grateful for his service to our country. Our family will certainly be praying for his family and friends over the coming weeks and months.
