Morris Robertson Obituary

Morris L. (Robbie) Robertson passed away September 1, 2010, at his home with his wife and family.

Morris was born February 23, 1936 to Houston Robertson and Minnie Bobo Robertson. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elaine Mahaffee. He is survived by his wife, Ruby Robertson; his daughters, Pamela McGill and Renee Priddy and husband, Doug; his grandchildren, Melissa Thomas and husband, Joshua, Courtney Meyers, Joshua Priddy and wife, Gini, and Jacob Priddy; great-grandchildren, Christian Tyler Thomas and Peyton Adam Thomas and Savannah Marie Priddy; his sisters, Sue McCollum of Columbus, MS, Linda Leatherman and husband, Steve of Michigan; brother-in-law, Jim Mahaffee of Columbus, MS, and a group of nieces and nephews.

He served in the United States Air Force for 21 years. During his military career, he was assigned to Hamilton AFB, California, where he worked at 4th Air Force Headquarters in Inspection General Office Classified Material Control. From then, he was assigned to Chitose AFB, Japan where he worked in 4th Fighter Day Wing Staff Judge Advocate's Office. Upon his return from Japan, he was assigned to the 3505th Training Wing in Greenville AFB, Mississippi. He was further assigned to the 3505th M & S Group Headquarters. Upon leaving Greenville AFB, he was assigned to Headquarters Air Force Recruiting Services at Wright Patterson AFB, where he was in charge of recruiter selection and assignments. From there, he was assigned to Keesler AFB, Mississippi and further assigned to the 3411th Student Squadron as a Military Training Instructor. He served as an instructor for 5 years. He left Keesler AFB bound for Goose Bay, Labradore, where he was assigned to the 37th Air Division Headquarters. He was further assigned to the Chief of Radar Maintenance and NCOIC of records, reports, and control. Upon his return to the United States, he was again assigned to the Commandment of Troops Office where he was a member of the Commandment of Troops Inspection Team for 3 years. With the completion of his Inspection Tour, he was assigned to the 3396th Student Squadron as a 1st Sergeant, which he carried out for 3 years. He was then sent to South East Asia as NCOIC of the 432nd Intelligent Squadron. With the completion of his overseas assignment, he returned to Keesler AFB where he was assigned to the Base Commander Staff as an Inspector until he retired in 1975. The day he retired from the Air Force, he signed on with Harley Davidson for the next 10 years. During that time, he also opened Harley Davidson of Ocean Springs, which he owned 10 years and Harley Davidson of Gulfport, which he owned for 5 years. With this experience, he came to meet and befriend Chairman of the Harley Davidson Vaughn Beals. During his 10 years as a Harley Davidson dealer, he bought and liquidated 17 dealerships on behalf of Harley Davidson Motor Company. He retired from Harley Davidson in 1985 and subsequently traveled extensively.

The greatest loves of his life were his wife and children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, the Air Force, and Harley Davidson Motorcycles. He spent his life from 1960 to the present in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.

Visitation will be Friday, September 3, 2010 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be Saturday, September 4, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. where friends may visit one hour prior all at the Ocean Springs Chapel of Bradford O'Keefe Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Joshua Priddy, Jacob Priddy, Douglas Priddy, Josh Thomas, James Nowell and Johnny White. Interment will be in Crestlawn Memorial Park.

My sympathy to the family of Robbie. I knew him as Leon and we graduted together in 1955 from S.D. Lee High School, Columbus, MS. I'm so glad that I got to see him at our 50th class reunion. May God comfort and strengthen you.

Ruby, I am so sorry about your lost as I know you are sorry about mine.
Leon loves his sisters and just buried his sister Elaine aweek ago.
Our pain will be with us more than any other. We took care of our love one as we loved them so much. We trusted Gods timing, but it is hard.
