Ocean Springs, Mississippi - Nicky Joe (Nick) Thomas passed away Friday, February 3, 2023.
Nick was born to Rosie & Nicholas Thomas on March 5, 1942 in Yazoo City, MS. He attended both Catholic/public schools in Yazoo City, graduated from USM 1964.
He is survived by his sister Rose Marie (Ree) Frazier (Ray); brother Fred Thomas (Erin); nieces Gina Dasher, Stephanie Ables, nephew Christian Dasher(Kaitlyn) (children Carson & Colt), cousins T. K. Watts, Shannon Grant, Jennifer Watts (children Waylon & Cannon)
In 2003, Nick moved to Ocean Springs due to poor health. He resided with his sister, Rose Marie (Ree) & brother-in-law) Raymond (Ray) Frazier.
Nick was raised on Grady Avenue in Yazoo City, living there most of his adult life. He was the first from his Yazoo City Boy Scout troop (and youngest in the state) to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
He was the best pool player in Yazoo during his young life & well into adulthood. He could be found at the Smokehouse pool hall or wherever there was a poker game. He loved to play & was a nightly fixture at the IP Casino Biloxi (known as "Nick at Night")
Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Yazoo City on Thursday, February 9th at 2pm, visitation from 12pm until 2pm. Burial service at Glenwood Cemetery following mass. Reception following at St. Mary's parish hall.
